Tune in for an inspiring conversation with Samantha Reveles and Lauren Spellman, class of 2017 graduates of Woodrow Wilson HS in Dallas ISD.
Dan had the privilege with his Woodrow AOE colleagues of teaching and coaching both "Sammy Sam Sam" and Lauren during their time as students and Robocats at Woodrow. Lauren is an alumnus of Woodrow Wilson HS Academy of Engineering and Computer Science and now the Texas A&M Aerospace Engineering program, and Samantha is an alumnus of the Woodrow IB program and now the University of Dallas.
They share what inspired them during their journeys both at Woodrow and beyond, and they've now earned undergraduate degrees and are both pursuing additional degrees in this next season of their lives. The Amazing Things podcast is proud to host these young leaders for this episode and we hope you'll share with others who might be inspired to hear their stories.

Chris Prestridge is the owner of FOL Sports, and Board member with Friends of Lakewood, and also serves as the current PTA President of Woodrow Wilson HS in Dallas ISD, Dallas, TX.
FOL Sports was born out of a need to provide our children with more motion and activity based structured and free play. Wth schools limiting recess and gym time, electronics and video games are taking up more and more of our kids time. We wanted to provide a place our kids could learn about the importance of fitness and teamwork in an electronics free zone.
FOL Sports is in its 5th year of providing an amazing program to Lakewood kids. Run by 2 Lakewood dads and open to boys and girls, incoming Kinder to 5th grade.
Friends of Lakewood (FOL) is the Father's organization associated with Lakewood Elementary that has been providing for Lakewood Elementary since 1982. FOLS has over 1000 members strong and are comprised of dads that are dedicated to enhancing the educational experience of the students of Lakewood Elementary School.
As part of the Amazing Things podcast launch, I am supporting an amazing pilot project in Uganda. LIsten in to learn about the Conscious Coalition (CC) and their ground-breaking international joint venture bringing clean water, world-class servant leadership training, compassionate peace building, women's empowerment, and children's enrichment in a pilot project in west Uganda. Leaders from across the community will receive in-person and virtual training from international experts, and our Amazing Things kickoff is helping promote the fund raising to support this project. Cody Seabolt is the founding Director of The Workshop by TBK Bank, a new membership maker space in Dallas, Texas.
A community maker space in the heart of Dallas, The Workshop features a Metalshop, Woodshop, Innovation Lab, Coworking Loft, and Collaboration Areas. Professional educators teach tool-use and safety classes and staff members are available to answer questions. The facility is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week to hobbyists, entrepreneurs, students, and those learning trade skills. Full access requires a Membership, but there are numerous special events and classes each month that are open to the public. While the equipment is state of the art and the industrial-chic facility is top-notch, the heart behind it all is what matters most.
TBK Bank established The Workshop as a way to serve the city of Dallas by providing adult building trade education, hosting camps that expose young people to new opportunities, and establishing partnerships with nonprofits that allow the bank to reach beyond the walls of The Workshop. This makerspace is unique because although many things are made at The Workshop, the most important thing created is a positive impact on the community.
