Helping Abused Partners

A new program is aimed at helping Summit County parents who have been abused by their partners and are seeking child support.

The Safe Access Unit will offer safeguards to those who would like to get child support but are concerned that this could put them or their children in danger. The safeguards will include doing hearings by phone and having an advocate accompany the parent to court.

The Summit County Prosecutor’s Office announced the new effort Friday in conjunction with Domestic Violence Awareness month, which is in October.

This new Safe Access Unit will create protections in the child support process so parents will have the critical financial resources they need to survive.”

Gorge Damn Removal is On the Move
