As King David looked back on his life, a life that certainly had its share of pain, hardship, persecution, brokenness and sin, it would have been easy to be filled with discouragement and regret. Instead, David breaks into a song of rejoicing; praising God for his amazing salvation and his rock-steady faithfulness both to David and to His kingdom. Here we consider David's song and join in praise to God who is our rock and our deliverer in Christ Jesus.

Every day Christians face the ongoing battle with sin and temptation. Dying to oneself and living for Christ through obedience to His commandments is an ongoing struggle that we all must face. But what happens when a spiritual hero, even the man after God's own heart, fails and falls into a spiral of escalating sin and personal destruction? Is there still hope for him? Join us this week as we consider the familiar story of David and Bathsheba and learn of the matchless, abundant grace that pardons and saves vile sinners like David - and us.

When life is good, there is a natural tendency to want to "do something" for God in order to show your gratitude for his gifts. But in our eagerness to carry out our plans for God, it is easy to lose sight of or forget God's promises for us though Jesus Christ. David was a man eager to serve God, but he had to be reminded first of God's promise and plan to serve David and His people through David's greater descendant, Jesus. Here we take a look at God's covenant with David and submitting our plans to God's promises.

The presence of God among his people warrants both a proper fear and respect for His holiness as well as a proper freedom and rejoicing in His grace. Having a proper understanding of the former, leads to a greater experience of the latter. This became clear to King David as he seeks to bring the Ark of God into Jerusalem. Listen as we learn with David what it means to fear and dance before the Lord in worship.

When a new president takes office, he has a transition team that comes in and quickly takes charge removing the vestiges of the old administration and establishing the power and policies of the new. Certainly we would expect a similar response from David, now that Saul his predecessor and nemesis is out of the picture. But David's response to this transition is not what we might expect. Today we look at how David trusts God in this transition of rule in his kingdom.

Sometimes life's pressures can mount to the point where we feel as if God has taken a vacation and we're left to figure things out for ourselves. Even David, God's anointed king and a man after God's heart, found himself leaning on his own understanding and looking to something other than God for his security. And yet God's saving and preserving grace is at work in the most unlikely places and unexpected ways.

How do you respond to unexpected insults or accusations? If you are like most people your immediate response is likely defensive and perhaps even filled with anger and resentment. As difficult as these situations can be, they are not without purpose however. For God has a unique and wonderful way of using them to remind us of our fragile susceptibility to sin and our great need for His even greater grace. This week we consider David’s response to a similar incident in his life and how God uses a woman named Abigail to restrain him from evil and encourage him to trust in divine providence and protection.

Desperate situations call for desperate measures. Such was the case for David when he found himself alone and being pursued with a bounty on his head by King Saul. Yet, even in his most desperate moments and in his attempts to take desperate measures in his own hands,David finds God at work on behalf of his servant in great need. Faithful, deep friendships are hard to come by in our fast-paced culture of shallow relationships. And yet in a time of need or crisis, a faithful friend can be God's instrument of grace. Here we look at a faithful friendship in the life of David.
