AMERICAN CHRISTIAN #37“Tongues as a Sign”
    Azusa Street (Part 8)
As we continue to read through the Azusa Street papers, the evidence of speaking in tongues, coming as a sign, happens when people are baptized in the Holy Ghost.  At Azusa, little children are even counted as those who were baptized in the Holy Ghost.  Dr. Nichols gives account of a challenge that went out to 35K Christians to invite their Muslim and Hindu friends and family to the 2008 Heart of the Father festival in Kalasapadu, India.  What was the result of preaching the Gospel to over 100K people at a festival? Over 65K were saved that night!  But wait, there’s more, Dr. Nichols gives an account of what happened as his team was leaving the festival.

AMERICAN CHRISTIAN #36“A Desire for More”
    Azusa Street (Part 7)
The Nazareth of Los Angeles, “the work began among the colored people… God baptized several sanctified wash women [laundry works] with the Holy Ghost, who have been much used of Him.” – William Seymour (1906).
Have you ever heard the words, “God hates you… you should just kill yourself?”  Do not be alarmed, it’s only the enemy coming against you as we read an account of a young lady from the Azusa Street papers who experienced that very thing.  Also, salvation comes quickly and at times so does the baptism in the Holy Ghost.
Rev. Pete Couper gives a firsthand testimony of an 82 year old man who is baptized in the Holy Ghost on a Pentecost Sunday (2021).  When you see the work of the Lord in others, follow it, watch it, and pay close attention to it – you’ll be glad and filled with Joy when you do!

AMERICAN CHRISTIAN #35“You Can’t Live at Azusa Street”
    Azusa Street (Part 5)
Have you run off with the blessings and anointings of God’s power, rather than tarrying until the biblical evidence of Pentecost has come? Many of us have.  Azusa was a cross-cultural adventure.  We review some of the accounts the newsletter, The Apostolic Faith (available on line: The Azusa Papers, by William Seymour), you could say this was the Facebook of what was happening and being reported during the revival, it was an observation of phenomenology. One characteristic of Azusa street aside of speaking in tongues, was the sending out of missionaries all over the world.  An urgency to preach the Gospel increases and missionaries often packed their own coffins to head off to other countries!  It’s been 115 years since Azusa street.  We are now in the fourth generation of this revival.  What are the stages of revival?

AMERICAN CHRISTIAN #34“Get Into The Cornfield”
    Azusa Street (Part 4)
Being sanctified to do the work that God has given to us is a paramount to the Christian walk.  In this episode we talk about the works of sanctification and attempt to bring some doctrinal clarity.  “Being clothed in power” (Lk 24:49) brings forth an evidence, this evidence is chronicled in the Book of Acts, just as it was at Azusa Street in 1906-1908 and even today, Christian, there is more!  Also, Dr. Nichols shares his testimony of sanctification.

    AMERICAN CHRISTIAN #32
    Azusa Street (Part 2)
Much was documented in the newsletter that came out of Azusa Street, today, Dr Nichols will read a few of those accounts and tell you one account of his own in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.  Today there are over 700M subscribers to the Pentecostal movement worldwide!  What Jesus released in the Apostles was released into nearly all four corners of the globe.  And, what started out in the west coast town of LA, spread.  By 1909, Azusa Street became too small and the movement of God became too big, unconstrained it rolled into the 50’s as the Charismatic movement and then into the 80-90’s as Evangelicals caught this fire from heaven.  The question is, “Are you ready for different, American Christian?”

    AMERICAN CHRISTIAN #31
    Azusa Street (Part 1)
Acts 2:17, God says, He will pour out His Spirit upon all flesh.  And we do see His Spirit being poured out.  Today’s episode we are off to LA’s Azusa Street in the early 1900’s.  What can one man do?  Frank Bartleman, was a man burdened by the Spirit to get people to pray and intercede for revival.  Bartleman also sent multiple letters to Evan Roberts of the Welsh Revival (1904-1905), and truly travailed for the salvation of the lost.  Churches that were travailing and ‘anticipating wonderful things’, were found in Bartleman’s site, places like Joseph Smale’s First Baptist Church in Los Angeles.  California was a melting pot of culture, a place where son’s and daughter’s and the young and old did received the Spirit of God upon their flesh.  Much went on behind the scenes before the outpouring of Azusa Street.

There is a doctrinal teaching in this present age that miracles, signs and wonders are no longer practiced by the believers in Jesus Christ. We’ll explore these first acts of the disciples, then witness what happened to the 70 that were sent out in Lk 10. Some believe that these miraculous gifts came to an end at the close of the 1st century.
