Similar returns to lockdown are being actively discussed at the national level across Europe, and on a regional basis in the United States. The much-derided "straw man" of renewed lockdowns, it would appear, has already sprung to life.

Progress isn’t automatic, and worse, regress can happen. We must understand and promote Enlightenment ideas and practices: Reason, Science, Humanism and Progress.

Freedom is always the answer, including freedom to not join the herd. Unknown is why this bothers so many on the left, not to mention why what’s timeless bothers them. It seems they enjoy forcing their values on others, and more than that, they positively revel in being told what to do.

Trying to bludgeon effects into existence in order to blot out causes is a conventional mistake within the social sciences, and, apparently among certain naive disease suppressors too.

The single-family housing market remains a bright spot for the economy, supported by low interest rates and rising demand as urbanites move to less dense living areas.

In its almost sixty years of existence, Walmart has revolutionized American retail and raised American standards of living by innovating in shipping, selling, and shopping. They certainly have the potential to continue doing so–but paying extra for stuff just because it was produced in the United States won’t help them or their customers in the long run.

Some argue that it is impossible to separate older and younger generations. While 100% separation is impossible, lockdowns have "successfully" shifted infection risk from the professional class to the working class and nursing home residents.

In the short run, the political game is rigged so that winners capture far more power than many, if not most, Americans would willingly cede to them and vastly more than the Constitution permits. But citizens can reduce the hazards they face by remembering that winning votes never redeemed a rascal. The winner of next month’s presidential election will be a clear and present danger to Americans’ rights and liberties regardless of his margin of victory.

We might also emerge from this bizarre Orwellian dystopia with a renewed appreciation for Main Street, community, and the third spaces. These places define normal and make us who we are. We support them because they support us in more ways than we realize. Perhaps we took these places for granted. Never again.

The economic way of thinking brings into sharp focus a world otherwise invisible.
