We're back and discussing a story that reportedly caused quite the social stir at the time of its broadcast.  War of the Worlds was a 1938 radio drama that purportedly incited mass hysteria over an other-worldly invasion filled with destruction and violence throughout the Eastern United states....but did it really or was it just hyped in the printed press?  Leisa and I interrogate tantacled invaders spawned from the legend that cemented the fame (or infamy) of a young director/actor named Orson Welles and opened the door for him to do Citizen Kane.  

Radio was a newer media and frequently delivered news to American living rooms nation-wide.  It's easy to assume that panic ensued due to the news report format that was 'World's vehicle of delivery to its audience.  How does the evidence for nation wide panic hold up 80 years later?  We discuss what was the new media of the 20th century and contemplate the new media of the 21st...
