  • Five-Foot-Tall Man Takes the Fifth

In this episode, after a brief review of my recent three-day cruise, I focus on the COVID lockdown and Dr. Anthony Fauci's role. I go over the contradictions between his public statements and what he really believed as written in his diary. There is lie, after lie, after lie, and in between we find out how happy he was to be getting so much positive attention. His taking the fifth was disappointing, but he might very well have to deal with a charge of contempt of Congress. We'll see.

There is also a constellation of headlines that include an impatient senior citizen, a bear in a hot tub, deaths due to explosive diarrhea, a beagle, a 350-pound teacher, a former child pop star and so much more.

I talk about one of my favorite comedies as my cultural recommendation and finish up with the continuing saga of Sophie Cunningham and the WNBA. Enjoy!

  • Surpriiiiiise!

I'm back from the ranch and decided I'd provide you, my loyal listeners, with a bonus episode prior to departing on my Caribbean cruise. It is an abbreviated episode however, as you're only getting headlines and a three-minute drill. More on that in a bit.

The headlines include the usual cast of characters including Joe Biden, a male nurse, Rhode Island crytid fetishists, circus performers, a Florida mom, a Florida man, a mime and so much more.

The three-minute drill includes the songs listed below (you'll have to listen to make the connection). Hong Kong Gardens by Souixsie and the Banshees, I Am a Scientist by Guided by Voices, Cindy Incidentally by Faces, Gidget Goes to Hell by The Suburban Lawns, To Sir with Love (including versions by both Lulu and the Trashcan Sinatras), Mississippi Queen by Mountain, Waterloo by ABBA, Panic by The Smiths, Bizarre Love Triangle by New Order, I Get Around by The Beach Boys, In God's Country by U2, Fire by the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Kind of a Drag by The Buckinghams, There She Goes by the La's, Town Called Malice by The Jam, White Rabbit by The Jefferson Airplane, California Dreamin' by The Mama's and the Papa's, You Really Got Me by The Kinks, Eruption by Van Halen and Communication Breakdown, Good Times Bad Times and The Immigrant Song, all by Led Zepplin.

And I conclude with some praise for a WNBA baller. Enjoy!

  • A Founding Fathers Redux

In this episode I posit what I believe would be the founders view of present-day America. And it's not your imagination if what I portray as their views hew very close to my own. Consider this episode the third of a trilogy, along with Ode to the Semiquincentennial and Mr. Contrarian Goes to Washington.

There are a wad of headlines as well that include arsonist dogs, Pickleball players, Florida executions, out for blood beavers, an old man's encounter with a bison, criminal orcas and so much more.

And also a cultural recommendation. My favorite song of Peter Gabriels solo career. Enjoy!

  • Mr. Contrarian Goes to Washington

In this episode I provide you with a travelogue of my recent trip to the nation's capital. I share with you why each time I visit DC I get hyper emotional about the founders and our country.

There are a profusion of headlines that include explosive diarrhea, Joe Biden, nude bikers, plague infested rats, Santa Claus, pride revelers, toddlers come back from the dead and so much more.

In the spirit of independence, this episode's cultural recommendation is the film 1776. A musical featuring our founding fathers singing and dancing their way into the Revolutionary War.

I apologize if the audio quality isn't up to snuff as I seem to be having some issues with my microphone. Enjoy!

  • Ode to the Semiquincentennial

This episode contains no headlines, cultural recommendations or asides. Just a poem I wanted to share about this magnificent country of ours about to celebrate its 250th birthday.

Have a Happy Independence Day and enjoy!

  • Just in the Knick of Time

In this episode I go into greater detail and let you know just how I feel regarding the Knicks winning the NBA championship and ending their 53-year drought. It was a wild 5 games that left me more drained than ecstatic.

There is also a suite of headlines that include a rattlesnake, Kamala Harris, Mitch McConnell, multiple Florida men, a tortoise, Mayor Mamdani, New York City cops and a whole lot more.

My cultural recommendation is a basketball movie that a least one of you listeners will vouch for. Have a Happy Father's Day as you enjoy the episode. and

  • Ballots, Bombs, Baskets, Bets and Beaucoup Bucks

In this episode I discuss several topics du jour, including primaries, the Iran war, and the long-gone integrity of college athletics.

There is a passel of headlines that include Supermarket workers, a CCNY professor, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, a small Danish town in California, have eaten surfers, diplomatic cage fighting and both yours and mines favorite rapper.

My cultural recommendation is a genre of music, and in case you don't catch the band names and songs they are: Lush and their songs Deluxe and Sweetness and Light, Slowdive and their tunes Alison and Souvlaki Space Station, the Cocteau Twins and their delightful ditty's Heaven or Las Vegas and Carolyn's Fingers, Swervedriver and songs Rave Down and Duel, Ride and their tracks Vapor Trail and Leave Them All Behind, Catherine Wheel and their goodies, Black Metallic and Crank, My Bloody Valentine and their torturous melodies Only Shallow and Soon, and last but not least Curve and their best song Horror Head.

And I finish with a brief take on what the Knicks championship means to me which I will expand on in next week's episode, when it's had a chance to really sink in. Enjoy!

  • Suicidal Empathy

In this episode I talk about suicidal empathy, the idea that western civilization has lost its will to survive. I reference a couple of books that are pertinent to the subject and hope you don't find things too depressing.

There's a brief update on election primaries and a raft of headlines that should provide you with a laugh or two as we sink into the abyss.

This episode's cultural recommendation is one of my favorite songs by the then progressive rock band, Genesis. As I am so very fond of dozens of their songs, you'll have to listen to find out which one I chose. Enjoy!

  • Laboratories of Democracy

In this episode I follow up from last week and discuss the deeper meaning of Memorial Day. Just what is that our servicemen and women sacrificed their lives for? I also touch on the Jaxson Dart situation and give it to the sports media, but good.

My cultural recommendation this week is a sports movie. You'll have to listen to see which one.

And there is a profusion of headlines that include college students, Texas hunters, Hunter Biden, Zohran Mamdani, carjackers, trigger happy dogs, and a French Open tennis player who really had to go. Enjoy!

  • Allegro Ma Non Troppo

As I lacked a bit of imagination this past week and couldn't think of a subject to discuss, I decided this would be a good time to get to your questions.

On top of that are the usual legion of headlines including UFO's, a black history museum, Punjabi devils, looksmaxxing, Harvey Weinstein, Luigi Mangione fangirls, Meta employees and so much more.

And to complete the podcast you'll get not one, but two cultural recommendations. Wishing you an enjoyable Memorial Day Weekend.
