Our concluding episode in the American Rebellion series find us in western Pennsylvania in 1791. The US had just won its freedom from England, but they faced a huge amount of debt & questions surrounding how much power the federal government should have. This all came to a head when Alexander Hamilton, as Treasury Secretary, gets his financial plan passed through Congress. The big issue: the whiskey tax. It disproportionately taxed poor, rural farmers out in western PA, many of whom were UNPAID Revolutionary War vets.
