America has now had its own “Brexit.” On steroids.

As the British did earlier this year, a majority of our countrymen and women have rejected the misrule of the establishment. They have elected as their next President and Commander-in-Chief Donald Trump, to the shock and dismay of the political, business and media elites.

The vote was a profound and direct repudiation not only of Trump’s opponent, Hillary Clinton, and her stated agenda of an Obama third term. It was a rejection of President Obama’s first two, as well.

The vote’s a mandate for a President Trump to do what he repeatedly promised, namely “draining the swamp” in Washington. His first test will be whether he succumbs to the pressure to conciliate with – and perpetuate – that elite, or seeks to secure for his administration new, reliable allies in the congressional leadership.
