It was inevitable: taking two of reality TV's most popular subgenres -- gold and ghosts -- and mashing them together into Syfy'sGhost Mine, which premieres this Wednesday at 10pE/P.
In the woods of eastern Oregon lies the rich Crescent Mine, which was shut down 80 years ago by tragedy and superstition.
Current owner Larry Overman, a Texas oilman with no mining experience, was determined to reopen the mine. But the first crew of miners he brought in was scared off and he was running out of time and money.
In comes a new crew lead by grizzled veteran Stan "Papa Smurf" Griffith. This strong-willed and superstitious group of miners will face the day-to-day challenges of mining, aided by the paranormal investigators who unravel the mysteries surrounding the mine, including historic Masonic connections and a spirit who has been known to haunt the area for generations.
We will be talking with those paranormal investigators - Kristen Luman and Patrick Doyle.
Luman began her research into the paranormal field while attending Portland State University, where she graduated with a focus on paranormal psychology. Kristen conducts field experiments regularly and is dedicated to discovering what’s real and what's imagined.
Patrick Doyle has been fascinated by the paranormal since he was 7-years-old, when he came face-to-face with a shadow figure and, instead of running away, went towards it. Patrick invents his own ghost hunting equipment, including the RIPA, a cutting edge, remote-controlled device that can collect data from locations deemed too dangerous for Patrick and Kristen to enter.

Spiritual teacher, author, lecturer, parapsychology researcher and renowned "Queen of the Psychics," Sylvia Browne joins us to discuss her new book, Past Lives of the Rich and Famous.

Syfy has a great new show that combines American Pickers, Oddities, and The Prestige - Deals From the Darkside, which follows mohawked collector and historian Steve Santini on his quest to locate, authenticate, and buy history's darkest artifacts.
Be it a deck chair from the Titanic, Jack the Ripper's knife, a hangman's noose, Houdini's handcuffs, or a Victorian cat o' nine tails, if there's a notorious, mysterious, or tragic tale associated with it, Steve wants it for his one-of-a-kind collection, from which over 60 objects are on long-term loan to the National Museum of Crime and Punishment in Washington, DC.

Elina is attending the Blood At the Beach horror convention in Virginia Beach this weekend, November 9-11, where Big Bad Wolf will be screened.

Halloween is what you make it! Every October, sleepy Fairhaven, MASS erupts with ambitiously creative spookery. Endless styrofoam tombstones and backyard beasts appear courtesy of a few supremely dedicated local "home haunters," who have devoted their lives to the art of handmade monster making and haunted decorating.
THE AMERICAN SCREAM film documentary follows three of these families to uncover the triumphs and tragedies that come with carrying on the true Halloween DIY spirit.
We are talking with THE AMERICAN SCREAM producer Zack Carlson, who claims to have been born in a pizza. He is a programmer for the Alamo Drafthouse, and writes and produces movies. He also co-wrote the book DESTROY ALL MOVIES, but that was a whole year ago. He doesn't eat fruit or vegetables.
THE AMERICAN SCREAM will premiere on NBCUniversal's Chiller network October 28 at 8:00 PM ET and will be screening in select theaters through November.

Ben Hansen grew up in a large family in Utah with parents who encouraged him to pursue his interests in athletics, music, the outdoors, and any other subject that piqued his curiosity.
He developed a passion for trying new things and earned various certifications in such things as SCUBA and amateur radio operation. He is also a licensed falconer, an airplane pilot, and even a search and rescue dog handler.
His interest in the paranormal began at an early age. Inspired by TV shows such as The X-Files, Ben developed an interest in public service and an insatiable desire to explore mysteries of the unknown.
After graduating from college he worked for several public and private agencies honing the skills he would use in his future endeavors. His work as a special agent for the FBI and an investigator of child sex crimes helped Ben develop the tools and experience needed to delve deeper into the fascinating world of UFO's, ghosts, cryptids, and other unexplained phenomenon.
The Fact or Faked team scours the Internet for videos and cases they can "put to the test" with experimentation and observation. They take their investigative methods to the next level to discover is it real or is it a hoax?
With Ben at the helm, the dedicated ensemble of specialists bring their unique talents together and travel the world looking for answers to these mysteries, because "sometimes seeing is not enough."
