BNY (formerly BNY Mellon), America’s oldest bank, has launched an aggressive multi-billion-dollar AI strategy aimed at transforming its 240-year-old operations into an "AI-first" institution. As of early 2026, the bank is spending approximately $3.8 to $4 billion annually on technology—roughly 19% of its total revenue—which is the highest proportion among its major banking peers.
