2 Samuel chapter 13 is among the most disturbing stories in the Bible. The humiliation and desolation of Tamar is painful to read and yet it is in the Bible, so God wants us to glean from it. Certainly, there are moral lessons about lust to learn from the story, but most importantly is the character of Tamar. The wise Tamar is the only light in this dark story. She is a picture of Christ who was humiliated and left desolate by the cross.
