Episode 51: Pt.2

On tonight’s episode we are hanging out with Dillon Parker. Dillon was apart of a youth “ministry” called Adullam Youth Outreach in Arkansas, led by Mark & Leslie dollar.

The goal of the dollars was to create a loving, family, Christ centered environment for kids who were troubled, homeless or just had bad home lives.

They modeled their ministry after the ramp in Hamilton Alabama and currently serve on the ministry team at the ramp.

Dillon joined this home when he was in his early teens after his dad couldn’t take care of him and while he was searching for acceptance.

This is the same ministry Shannon Walker from episodes 41 & 43 was apart of. He quickly learned this wasn’t a place full of the love of Jesus.

While Jesus was preached to them, so was a lot of condemnation and abuse. From verbal & mental abuse to spiritual and physical abuse. Not only were the kids constantly made to do crazy chores in the name of ministry, they were also berated for poor grades, their weight, among lots of other things. Not to mention Mark being overly aggressive with males and allowing corporal punishment, Mark also had movie nights with the girls only, while having some of them rub his feet with lotion. Total grooming behavior in my opinion.

All this sounds crazy but, Dillons story lines up with Shannon’s, and if you go to her page, you can get testimony after testimony of different individuals who experienced the same things all in the name of Jesus.

I don’t know about you but if that doesn’t scream cult I don’t know what does. Again theses at these young peoples stories but all of them seem to line up and they have no issues repeating the stories over and over again so at the very least it’s what the believe happened to them and honestly so do I.

On tonight's episode we take a look at INFLUENCE.

When we think of influence, we tend to link it to huge social media influences, or maybe motivational speakers, pro athletes. People in the spot light.

But what if I told you we all have a circle of influence and the size of that circle is irrelevant. It's what we choose to do with it that matters.

As men we seldom think of how much influence we really do have in our daily lives. It could be on our jobs, at the courts shooting hoops with our friends, school etc. We seldom think about how many people look at our lives as the example. Especially in our families.

Just because our circle of people may be small, we need to realize that someone in that circle looks to us for the answers. It's our job to realize this and take the necessary steps to be a person of influence that influences others the right way.

Never think no one is watching you, because they are and you never know just how your actions may impact their lives and decisions they choose to make. We need to be intent with our actions and decisions as men and be willing to live out those actions with the hopes that it betters someone's life, not make it worse.

This being the last in the series, I want you to think back on every lesson and episode and just how much they all really do go hand it hand. It's hard to put one of these principals into practice without putting all of them to work. We hope you all have enjoyed our perspective and have taken steps to become better men.

Episode 48

On tonight's episode we take a look at "COMPASSION"

As men this is something we all struggle with. We struggle because we see it as a sign of weakness. From childhood, most of us men are taught to be strong! To not show weakness, hold your emotions, don't cry etc.

But honestly, that's only part of what we should do. I do agree as men we should know when and how to show emotion. That we shouldn't be ruled by it, But when we hold it all in, it often times creates a monster inside of us, that if ever unleashed, is hard to gain control of again.

For years, as a believer and a non believer, I struggled to show compassion for certain types of people, Addicts, the homeless etc. My thought process is they chose that life, so they need to choose to change.

They do need to choose top change, but rarely do these people choose this situation. Often times it sneaks up on them and before they know it, it is out of control.

It wasn't until I found myself in a season of life where I was depressed, lonely and wanted nothing to do with God, church etc. that I began to see just how people end up in these types of situations. I went through a very hurtful situation. While now I see that it was as much my fault as others, at the time I couldn't see anything but how I was wronged.

In that time so many people showed me compassion. It made me look at myself and see just how un compassionate I had been for so long. When I looked at my situation I understood that only I could choose to change and allow God to help me, but I had so many people there willing to help me get better. What if we did that with everyone? How much sooner would people come out for these terrible life situations and move on with being productive with their lives?

Jesus understood this. He had compassion for so many. He took the time to love people and share hope with each of them. We need to learn to do the same. I'm not saying let people take advantage of us. We need to hold them accountable, but we can do so with the love and heart of Christ.Hope you enjoy this episode.

On tonight's episode we are hanging out with Stephen Womack. Stephen is a former member of the The Ramp Ministries. He shares about his time as a staff member at the church and the school of ministry, His role as a spiritual father to many students and how he was used to "enforce" the "rules" of the school of ministry.

He dives into the tactics used by staff members, to keep students "accountable" thru fear and is representation of scriptures, as well as being apart of their "SOZO" meetings ( a form of spiritual therapy) and how staff members would used the things said in these meetings against the students.

He also speaks of behind the scenes abuse reported by students and community members, and how these allegations would often times be swept under the rug depending on a person's social status.

He ultimately came to the decision that The Ramp and it's leaders were way off base when it came to ministry and the love of Christ and he decided to move on. He along with some other former members of The Ramp are now actively tryin to give hope and a place of refuge to survivors of this "ministry" and trying to bring awareness to the schemes this "ministry" plays behind closed doors through their podcast " God Complex: True Crimes Behind Stained Glass.

Episode 46:

On tonight's episode we take a look at COMMITMENT. What is COMMITMENT and how do we apply it to our lives? As men, we all have commitments.

Whether it be God/Jesus, our wives, families, Church, our jobs, or bills, we are all committed something. But often times, in all we commit to, we get over loaded, stressed out and we don't know what should come first.

For me, that's an easy one. It's God/Jesus, my wife & kids then everything else, right???? Wrong!!!!!!!

For me I often find myself worrying about all the commitments I have and not putting the things that matter first.

We look at the stresses of life and think, man I got to pay this bill before anything else gets done, before I pay my tithes. I need to play with my kids before I speak to my wife. I need to spend time with our wife before I spend time with God/Jesus, praying and reading our bibles etc., you get where I'm going!.

You may say guys, I don't serve Jesus.... well that's a decision you ultimately have to make, but even if that's the case, you still have a list of commitments & while we think the first commitment should always be your relationship with the creator of all things, we tend to over commit, or put other commitments before what's really important & everything gets out of balance.

As men we need to prioritize and look deep into our lives and decide what should go first, second and so forth. In this teaching we hop to help you explore just what that is and help you understand commitment and how to put these things in order of importance.

On tonight's episode we take a look at PASSION. What is true passion and how do we prioritize it correctly.

As men, we have many passions in life. It may be sports, hunting, fishing, cars or families. But how do we prioritize these passions.

Do we put what is fun to us over our families, church or our relationship with Jesus?

It's perfectly fine to be passionate about the things that bring us joy. But when it takes precedence over our loved ones & or relationship with Christ, we can find ourselves spiraling out of control and not in control of what matters and not being able to figure how to fix things.

It comes down to prioritizing things and doing each thing with passion in the correct order. God, family, work.... everything else.

On tonight's episode we are hanging with our new friend, Shannon Walker. Shannon is a licensed mental health coach/therapist and also a "survivor" of what she considers to be a cult, originally located in Arkansas, but is now tied to Tee Ramp in Hamilton, AL.

She's going to share her journey as a teen to young adulthood being involved in that specific ministry and what she experienced on the inside of it. Not just in church, but while living with the "leaders" and other "at risk" students and how their actions and their teachings ultimately pushed her away from the Christian Faith.

We simply want these people and ministries to teach the truth of the gospel with out twisting it to fit their desires and hold true to the teachings of the bible & Apostle Paul in 1 Timothy chapters 3, 4 & 5

A Cult is a system or group of people who practice excessive devotion to a figure, object, or belief system, typically following a charismatic leader.

Three main characteristics of a cult are:

Charismatic leader

Cults are led by a charismatic leader who is considered a genius, prophet, or messiah.

Isolation

Cult members are isolated from family and friends, and are discouraged from questioning the cult's doctrine.

Control

Cult leaders have extreme control over members' lives, including what they eat, wear, and who they can have relationships with.

Jesus in no way cane to earth to have us serve anyone but God the father. He never told us to bow to man or that life would be full of health & wealth & prosperity. In fact he said "we would have troubles in this life, but to believe in him because he's overcame the world. He said we would be persecuted, but we have peace in him.
