I started a new job with the Archdiocese of Las Vegas! Woohoo! Neil and I talk about my new job, then the state of Youth Ministry and Confirmation and we make arguments for and against restored order 66 (lol, you’ll get it if you listen). This led us to talking about the importance of Youth Group as growth in discipleship.

The conversation turns to formation for adults and young adult formation in the diocese and turning the emphasis to small group communities that lead to events rather than events to form small groups and how this might actually encourage continual growth.

I know you’ve never seen it, I know you’ve never heard of it, but it’s a fairytale that marks the beginning of the modern broken fairytale and the conversion of Magic into Science. Neil and I argue about Lent. Turns out Neil is right, but the season of Lent isn’t 40 days, however the start of Lent was put on a Wednesday so that there would be 40 penitential Days even though those day cross two liturgical seasons Lent & Triduum.

I’m drinking nothing but water while I teach this class on the Sacramental Economy. I take a quote from the Catechism (CCC 1131) and break it open showing the Old Testament prefigures, how Jesus perfect it, and how through the Holy Spirit all that belongs to Jesus is given to us for his glory (Jn 16:14). I close off with the reciprocal nature of the Sacraments, how we are not mercenaries working for blessing, but rather we approach the sacraments in the spirit of thanksgiving and in the obedience of Faith.

It’s a nerd one, so if you like the nerdy Catholic stuff this is the episode for you. Neil and I will get together soon to record a new one for you!

So had a dramatic couple of weeks and Neil and I haven't gotten together to record a fresh episode, but we did record this intro to the Sacraments of Initiation that was intended for high school freshmen.

We had a great conversation and in a very basic way broke down the three sacraments of initation. Enjoy!!!
