Dwanna Nicole is a restorative justice practitioner and trainer with the Restorative Justice Partnership, where she works within school communities throughout the country to assist them with developing strategies to create more positive school climates for students, educators, and families. She provides training and implementation support in restorative justice to all stakeholders within school communities. In addition to training, she works alongside schools and school districts in the creation of individualized short- and long-term plans for restorative justice implementation and provides ongoing support in the form of resources, complimentary professional development, and onsite assistance.

Ethan Ucker was a 2018 Mellon Collaborative Fellow for Reaching New Publics. ethan explores autonomous capacity- and infrastructure- building projects that have arisen in the context of social movements for Black liberation and Indigenous resurgence in the U.S. He studies the strategies used to materially provision these projects: the organizational containers and administrative forms that house and protect Black and Indigenous radical political imaginaries; less the manifestos and the speeches than the grant applications, budgets, and fundraising plans that they inspire and require. He is a co-founder of the hip-hop infused restorative justice organization Circles and Cyphers.

This week we're giving space to the Restorative Justice (RJ) Chronicles podcast featuring the conversation with Roscoe Wallace.

Roscoe has survived the murder of his son. He has been incarcerated for crimes from petty to felony and takes responsibility for the harm he has caused. Parts of his story are all too common in this country.

What is unique is his turn toward healing harm and building relationships. These things are at the root of Restorative Justice Practices.  In this episode you will hear Roscoe's first-hand account of coming to a restorative life.

David Karp is a professor and director of the Center for Restorative Justice in the School of Leadership and Education Sciences at the University of San Diego. His current scholarship focuses on restorative justice in community and educational settings. For his work on campus restorative justice, he was the recipient of the 2019 Leadership and Innovation Award from the National Association of Community and Restorative Justice as well as the 2011 Donald D. Gehring Award from the Association for Student Conduct Administration. David has published more than one hundred academic papers and six books, including The Little Book of Restorative Justice for Colleges and Universities, Wounds That Do Not Bind: Victim-Based Perspectives on the Death Penalty and The Community Justice Ideal.

Professional educator of 30 years, Ms. McNair serves as the Restorative Approaches Coordinator one of the largest school districts in Maryland. She has training in Peacemaking Circles, Conflict Circles, and Restorative Justice in Education. She is the owner of The Restorative Classroom, LLC, which provides services such as Restorative Justice in Education training, building staff relationships, addressing staff harm in educational environments, and creating just and equitable learning environments. She also offers technical support to schools implementing restorative practices. Ms. McNair served on her state commission for The School to Prison Pipeline and Restorative Practices, which pushed and helped pass state legislation for schools to adopt Restorative Approaches as a way to build relationships and keep youth in school. Richard Cruz is native and his relations are through his mother (Georgia) Assiniboine Sioux, Nakota, and Arapaho. After decades in the California Department of Corrections he serves as the Co-Executive Director of the Ahimsa Collective, an Oakland-based organization focused on restorative justice.
