CONTENT WARNING: at about 24 minutes we talk a bit about childhood sexual abuse. Skip ahead about 2.5 minutes if you need to not hear about that. There is another brief mention at 29:30 that lasts about 90 seconds.
This week we’re talking about the importance of identifying behaviors that people engage in versus the diseases they may or may not have.
Instead of a listener question, we’re talking about an article about sex education where we break down the ways that good sex education can be made into an inflammatory article.
Around 27 minutes it sounded like transgender people and people who do drag were being conflated with one another. We want to be really clear that these are two different things. People who do drag are not transgender and transgender people are not doing drag. Those are two different things that may overlap, but do NOT always.
Episode highlights:
“Depressed people aren’t choosing to be depressed just like no one chooses to be fat. If we could all win the genetic lottery we would all absolutely choose that.”
“We need to feel safe and not angry all the time”
“It’s hard enough to just live life and try not to be angry all the time.”
“An all-you-can-eat buffet can still nourish and sustain you.”
“It says good shit.”
“I just can’t wait until we’re not doing that anymore.”
“For the record, I’m the OG Gossip Girl fan because I read the books.”
“So, basically, I’ve always been interested in sex.”
“Tell me more, is there more sexy things in this..?”
“It was appropriate…” “--apparently it’s not”
“But you’re gonna keep doing it because it feels good.”
“We can go down that road, but it’s going to be a really long episode.”
“Having that tiny piece of information could reduce so much shame.”
