NFTs are bridging the gap between art and technology but many artists (including myself) still don’t quite understand what they are and how to do them. In this episode our inspiration is NFT art and its ability to help us explore another stream of income and a look into the future. Unfortunately, there are a lot of scams circulating the internet praying on artists enticing them with quick money for an NFT of their work.  Luckily, our guest, Capucine Jenkins, curator of digital art and NFTs at Saatchi Art is here to demystify the process for us. Class is in session and she’s giving us the NFT 101 class so that you can see the opportunities that exist even if you’re a traditional artist.  “Much of our goal and objective really is to help artists help growing artists and definitely emerging artists make a livelihood for themselves.” - Capucine Jenkins  Everything you’ll need to start considering NFT art:  NFTs are so much more than JPGs  You don’t have to be a digital artist to sell NFTs  Art and technology don’t have to be in contrast of each other  NFTs are really about intellectual property and assets that allow you control as an artist  Capucine explains the opposing worlds of art before this NFT technology exploded in popularity, and the digital world that now exists for artists to live and thrive in. Capucine says that NFTs give you “a mid-tier place …to be able to have a livelihood.” Because it exists on a technology called the blockchain, there is no middle man, and your royalties, rights as an artist, and proper compensations are baked into these digital contracts called smart contracts.  “There's this understanding that art and tech are in contrast, or even in conflict with each other, when I think NFT's actually do the job of bridging that gap.” - Capucine Jenkins  For full show notes, go to schulmanart.com/238 ++++++++++++++++++++
