This episode is part of a series including CEOs from large companies in Sweden who have been part of Mitt Liv's CEO-network called "CEOs for D&I", for increased diversity and inclusion in the labour market. The aim of the program is to get the trade and industry to scale up the work for diversity and inclusion in their organisations and take responsibility for one of Sweden's biggest societal challenges: exclusion in the labour market.
This episode features Deloitte Sweden's CEO Jan Berntsson who was part of the first group of "CEOs for D&I". Jan thinks that it is important that the company mirrors the society – Sweden has a minority group of 20% with foreign backgrounds of the total population which means that the company should reflect this, on all levels including the boards. Jan states that "We must also mirror our clients, to align with their thinking".

We also learn about Deloitte’s WorldClass ambition; to reach 100 million people by 2030 through programs and partnerships with leading educational organisations around the world. Deloitte invests their people's time, provides volunteers, and donates to support millions of students, teachers, and education leaders worldwide.
The WorldClass program in Sweden focuses on integrating academics with foreign backgrounds on the Swedish labour market, and together with Mitt Liv Deloitte has contributed with many mentors in our Mitt Livs Chans mentoring program for academics with foreign backgrounds.
Jan shares why it is important to involve management, not only HR, in diversity and inclusion work, and how he encourages managers to become mentors to learn about the journey of migrating to Sweden and getting into the labour market.
Jan also shares that their equality work has had a positive impact on satisfaction and profitability, for themselves and their clients.
Jan sees that today, the financial sector is not truly mirroring the society we live in, in terms of diversity and that needs to be highlighted. This episode is also available with video on our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHC3Chrdbmbxkp2Pgx1YPyg
