In our second exploration of J. B. Priestley's 'An Inspector Calls', Mr Gallie and Mr Forster look at how class division is presented as the root of society's problems. From the comfort of the recording studio (A.K.A. Mr Forster's car), we evaluate how Priestley shows a world in which those with privilege never look down at those they could help, and instead think only of climbing further up the twin ladders of profit and status. Titanic comes up more than it should, and Mr Forster (much like a modern day Mrs Birling) mocks Mr Gallie's 'provincial' ways. Â
