An Untold Narrative

On todays show, Episode 0014,  we chat with portrait artist Debi Hochberg.  Out of LA, Debi is not a full time artist, but does this part time. Due to COVID, she has reignited her passion of portrait art, paintings, mixed mediums etc. In this episode, she talks about social media, business impacts, and why she pursues art. Debi is the first guest that we've met through the Tik Tok platform!

On Episode 0013,  Dave hosts shoe maker and entrepreneur Keiko Hirosue.   Keiko is best known for founding Brooklyn Shoe Space, a maker's dream space to create footwear. In this episode we hear how and why she was able to begin the space,  beginning life between Japan and the US, to pursuing her passions, and now currently handling COVID as a business owner.

Halfway through season 2, Dave hosts incredible talent and multifaceted designer Mike Sturge.   Portland based, Mike drives conversation about freelance design and the inter-workings of contractual design, to working with NFL stars like Micah Hyde of the Buffalo Bills making custom cleats!!

In episode 0011, Dave sits down with a phenomenal designer who has remained under the radar throughout his career - Michal Kukucka.   Michal takes us through his lens of growing up in Slovakia and the small design community in eastern europe, to living in China for 6 years with United Nude, to his most recent venture at MVMT watches!!  If there's one take away, is to go after your passions. Michal is a true testament to that.

This is arguably our best episode yet - featuring super talented footwear designer and entrepreneur Christopher Dixon.  It's incredibly difficult to highlight what is discussed in this episode because there are so many great things to learn and listen to. Chris takes us on his phenomenal journey of wanting to play ball while battling his love for sneaker design, to getting an opportunity to design with SERENA WILLIAMS, to the struggles of being a one man band of his patented double heel footwear collection of Christopher Coy.   I hope you all enjoy this as much as I did. It is a rocket ship of an episode.

To kick off Season 02, Episode 009 - Dave hosts an ultra talented art and museum curator, Shasti Lowton.   As our second international guest, first over seas, Shasti talks about her pursuit to find her calling as a career path, working with massive museum organization Design Museum, and the pursuit of ambitious goals.

In the episode 008 and season 01 finale, Dave hosts power house entrepreneur Lorena Agolli from Sole Survivor Shop.   The Toronto based shoe repair shop owner dives DEEP into the struggles of rock bottom, finding passion in unforseen hobbies, and running a business for the past 8 years. This is a raw and authentic conversation that does not come around very often!

In Episode 007, Dave sits down with local friend Che Anderson - the people's Mayor of Worcester, MA.   Che provides us with one of the most inspirational stories about growing up with nothing and yet setting out to be a lawyer, to working in city government where he's not from, to finding passion in arts and connecting the two worlds.

Episode 006 -  We host one of Dave's longest standing footwear connections, Pierce Lopatic.  Pierce has been on a mission since his teenage years to become a footwear designer. He takes us on his journey through his education, internships, climbing the corporate ladder, to taking chances with working for the Shoe Surgeon and his latest venture with New Republic.

Episode 005 -  We sit down with the incredibly talented in-the-making fashion designer Amanda Howe.  While Amanda still has a year left of college education to go through, her work makes her stand out in the industry as a veteran. We talk about her experiences of fashion and footwear design, through internships in Amsterdam and NYC to what her long and short term goals are.
