A Public Affair

An update on the protests in Brazil

Listen Later

Sunday, January 8th thousands of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro supporters invaded the Supreme Court, presidential palace and Congress. Some of these protestors had been camped out in Brasilia since Bolsonaro and others traveled from across the country. To help us understand what happened, we welcome CEPR‘s Alexander Main back to the program.
Alexander Main is the Director of International Policy at the Center for Economic and Policy Research in Washington, DC. His areas of expertise include Latin American integration and regionalism, US security and counternarcotics policy in Central America, US development assistance to Haiti, and US relations with Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador, Honduras and Venezuela. His analyses have been published in The New York Times, Foreign Policy, the Los Angeles Times, The Hill, NACLA, Dissent, Pagina/12, the Monde diplomatique, and more.
