Our show focuses around our favorite fandoms that we discuss from a Christian perspective. We do not try to put Jesus into all our favorite stories, but rather we try to ask the questions the IPs are asking, then addressing those questions from our perspective. We are not all ordained, but we are the Priests to the Geeks, in the sense that we try to serve as mediators between the cultures around our favorite fandoms and our faith communities.

Continuing our Controversial Unity series, we are joined by Joe Dea (from BuddyWalk with Jesus) and Andrew Fouts (from Ministry Misfits) to discuss differing opinions about how politics should be handled from the pulpit! Joshua Noel and TJ (Tiberius Juan) Blackwell ask them about their stances on politics being spoken about in Church and how they may be able to reconcile with others who disagree with them on how this should be handled.

.

What does preaching from the pulpit mean? Can churches make political statements? Are churches a conservative force? What makes a church liberal? What is the meaning of Christian nationalism? What do you mean by religious nationalism? What is Christian theocracy? What are the core beliefs of nationalism? Should political topics be encouraged from the pulpit? Does the pulpit provide power? Should we avoid politics in Church?

.

In this episode, we will:

• Discuss the importance of politics in churches
• Define what it means to pastor people in their own contexts
• Explain both sides of the argument around politics from the pulpit
• Elaborate why there is so much disagreement around whether the Church should discuss politics at all

For an After-Easter Special, we discuss King Mickey in the Kingdom Hearts games and compare his journeys into the realm of darkness to Jesus Christ's Harrowing to Hell! Joshua Noel, James Demmel, Christian Ashley, and Barbara Erdely discuss one of their favorite video games series and compare it to early Christian thought and the doctrine around Jesus' death! We do not try to claim that Kingdom Hearts is secretly Christian or that the creators of the game intended this comparison to be made, but rather we look at these two stories as stories to compare the events that take place in Jesus' life and in King Mickeys journeys!

.

Why was Mickey in the realm of darkness? How did Mickey get out of the realm of darkness? Did Mickey know Aqua was in the realm of darkness? What was Mickey doing during KH1? How did Riku end up in the realm of darkness? What is Mickey's Keyblade called? Why does Mickey Mouse have a Keyblade? Why was Mickey barely in KH1? What is the story of the Harrowing of Hell? Where did Jesus go between his death and resurrection? Did Jesus go to hell after he died on the cross? How long did Jesus spend in hell? We discuss all this and more in this one! I'm joined this week by Joshua Noel of The Whole Church Podcast (https://the-whole-church-podcast.captivate.fm/) to discuss Genesis 35 & 36.

Can we agree on how scripture works if one doesn't take it as literally as another? How does the fallout of Dinah's situation effect the family of Jacob and her? Why did they need to get rid of their idols on the trip to Bethel? How did God protect them from reprisal as they went to Bethel? Why did God rename Jacob as Israel again? What is a drink offering? How did the death of Rachel while giving birth to Benjamin effect the whole family for years to come? Who are the descendants of Esau and why are they focused on in scripture? Can we learn anything from genealogies? How many times can Christian call Joshua a heretic?

Happy birthday My Seminary Life!

In this year's birthday special, I sit down with Dr. Jonathan Roy of Trevecca Nazarene University to discuss his dissertation on the role shame has on counselors. It is understandable that those stepping into a counseling environment to receive help may feel some shame in their life, but what about those who are providing the help? What are the mental health professionals to do when they feel unqualified or inadequate to help a person? Dr. Roy walks us through his dissertation exploring those topics. He also gives us helpful definitions to understand the difference between shame, guilt, and humiliation, and why being self-aware is so crucial for a counselor.

We will be discussing the nature of war as portrayed by these games, the different political factions in the game, and even some of the positive attributes of American politics that the game highlights!

.

What is the story of Fallout? Will Fallout 5 be a thing? What is the main message of Fallout? What is the best main story in Fallout? Is New Vegas the best Fallout? Is Fallout: New Vegas a sequel to Fallout 3? Is Fallout 4 a good game? Are the Minutemen good in Fallout? What happens if you don't join the Minutemen? How do you get the peaceful ending in Fallout 4? Is it better to destroy Megaton or save it? Does anyone survive Megaton? Did the fallout universe have a Nuclear Winter? Tremper Longman III joins us once more, this time to discuss how LGBTQ+ issues are handled in the Church! Joshua Noel and TJ (Tiberius Juan) Blackwell ask Dr Longman about the many different positions churches have taken on issues like whether we should be affirming or not of same-sex marriages, how welcoming we should be to those in these lifestyles, whether the Church should affirm people who are transexual, or whether people in the Church should use the preferred pronouns of those we are speaking to

.

Why is homosexuality a sin if being gay is just who I am? Is it REALLY ok to be LGBTQ & Christian? What does the Bible say about homosexuality? Can my church be welcoming to the LGBTQ+ community without being affirming? Should Christians be respectful of people's chosen pronouns? How do we know what to believe about same-sex desires? Is homosexuality okay in the Church? Where does the Bible say that being gay is a sin?

.

In this episode, we will:

• Discuss the different positions in the Church concerning the LGBTQ+ community
• Explain the Biblical case against same-sex relationships
• Deconstruct the behaviors of those in the Church towards LGBTQ+ peoples
• Wrestle with questions of how to treat those who are different from ourselves
