Pete Enns joins Joshua Noel and TJ (Tiberius Juan) Blackwell to discuss the doctrine of Biblical Inerrancy, the problems Pete has with the doctrine, and whether there is a way for Christians to have unity when we often disagree over this doctrine that is fundamental to so many. Inerrancy is often a doctrine of great significance for more conservative, evangelical churches, but there are many Christians like Pete Enns and our hosts who care deeply about the Bible, but do not agree that the Bible is inerrant.

.

Does Bible ever claim inerrancy? Is biblical inerrancy heresy? What Scripture says about Bible inerrancy? When did biblical inerrancy become a thing? Which Christians don t believe in biblical inerrancy? Is the Bible inerrant or infallible? Where in the Bible does it say every word is true? If the Bible can be wrong, how do we relate to and understand God? Can the Bible be wrong? How do we know the Bible is true?

.

In this episode, we will:

• Deconstruct what is meant by Biblical Inerrancy
• Explore the limits of Christian Unity in light of fundamental disagreements
• Discuss the importance and levels of truth in the Bible
• Explain the kinds of literature and intentions behind the writings of Scripture

Systematic Geekology

Our show focuses around our favorite fandoms that we discuss from a Christian perspective. We do not try to put Jesus into all our favorite stories, but rather we try to ask the questions the IPs are asking, then addressing those questions from our perspective. We are not all ordained, but we are the Priests to the Geeks, in the sense that we try to serve as mediators between the cultures around our favorite fandoms and our faith communities.

We were honored to be a part of Theology Beer Camp last October to discuss the intersection of faith and fandoms! In session 1, Will Rose was joined by Ryan Does (of the Many Paths podcast) to interview Donna Bowman and Noel Murray about their work in critical analysis of Pop Culture. How do we think deeper about the fandoms we love, without engaging in negativity when stories don't go the way we had hoped!

Occasionally our show will discuss sensitive subject matter and will contain some strong language. Your discretion is advised for this episode.

So a quick PSA here. I recorded this episode while I was not in the best state of mind and also spend a while explaining what I'm going through and how it's affecting my performance. If this is something that interests you, then listen as usual. If you want to skip ahead to the Bible reading, then please go to 21:30.

Who was the servant Abraham sent to find Isaac a wife? How did Sarah's death effect his decision-making? Why would Abraham not allow Isaac to marry a Canaanite? When should we pray for immediate answers to prayer? How did Rebekah show she was worthy of the servant's search? Why was it important for Rebekah to leave her family behind? Who is Laban and how does he come into play here? How was Isaac like his father?

As a final farewell to Nick Polk, he and Christian Ashley discuss the Buffyverse! After their conversation, Christian interviews Nick about his time as a host of Systematic Geekology. Nick will return as a guest and friend of the show, but this is his final episode as host! What better farewell could there be than a Buffyverse episode!

.

Is Slayers a Buffyverse story canon? Who owns the Buffyverse? Why are all Slayers female? Was Buffy the longest living Slayer? Why Buffy the Vampire Slayer ended? What is the darkest Buffy season? Do I have to watch Angel to watch Buffy? Will there be a new Buffy the Vampire Slayer series? We discuss all this and more in this one! Join in the conversation with us on Discord now!
