Welcome to my dojo, this is Kung Fu Pizza Party. In today's episode, we are headed back to the arcade, this time with a dive into the Ninja Gaiden franchise. Joining me for this talk, by request, is TJ Blackwell of Systematic Geekology; a long time fan of the Ninja Gaiden series. We discuss the game's legacy of being extremely difficult, how Ninja Gaiden connects to the Dead or Alive franchise, and how awesome it would be if Ryu showed up in Smash Bros.

Jiminy Cricket takes center stage as the duo of Joshua Noel and Andy Walsh dive into how this iconic character plays the role of conscience for Pinocchio in both the animated classic and the original novel. Joshua Noel and Andy Walsh explore the significant differences between the two portrayals, highlighting how Disney transformed Jiminy from a ghostly figure in the book to a charming, wise mentor in the film. They banter about the character's oddities, including the curious idea of a tiny cricket serving as moral guidance and whether or not he truly impacts Pinocchio's journey. As they dissect Jiminy's adventures and misadventures, they also ponder the broader implications of guidance and responsibility in relationships, making for a thoughtful yet light-hearted discussion. Stick around as they unravel the nuances of what it means to have someone—or something—looking out for you, even if it’s a little bug on your shoulder!

Our show focuses around our favorite fandoms that we discuss from a Christian perspective. We do not try to put Jesus into all our favorite stories, but rather we try to ask the questions the IPs are asking, then addressing those questions from our perspective. How do the Philistines handle the Ark of the Covenant compared to the Israelites? How does God prove His sovereignty through this brief exile for the Ark? What is the significance of this event? How does God engineer matters to return the Ark to a not fully believing Israel? What is God teaching Israel and us through this?

Welcome to my dojo, this is Kung Fu Pizza Party. Usually, in each episode I deliver "high-flying action" but today it's "high-speed action" with 1997's Vanishing Point. In celebration of Keith David receiving his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, I sit down to review the made for TV remake that he stars alongside Viggo Mortensen and Jason Priestly. It's a film about a man who just wants to get back to his wife, while being hunted down by every police force in the West and the FBI. Vanishing Point asks the very big question, "why do bad things happen to good people?" while providing a satisfying answer alongside endless car chases and explosions.

Rev. Robin T. Jennings elucidates the profound intersection of Celtic Christianity and the contemporary spiritual journey in his latest literary contribution, "Expressions of the Soul: Celtic Christianity and Life with God." This episode serves as a platform for an engaging dialogue that explores how the ancient practices and beliefs of Celtic Christians can inform and enrich modern faith experiences. Jennings articulates the significance of the soul's expressions and the communal aspects inherent in Celtic spirituality, urging listeners to contemplate the transformative potential of these traditions. Furthermore, he emphasizes the importance of fostering relationships, such as the concept of Anam Cara, or soul friend, as a means of deepening one's connection to the divine and to one another. Through this discussion, we are invited to reflect on our own spiritual practices and the enduring relevance of Celtic Christianity in our lives today.
The conversation with Rev. Robin T. Jennings delves into the profound essence of Celtic Christianity as articulated in his latest book, "Expressions of the Soul: Celtic Christianity and Life with God." Jennings, who possesses a wealth of experience as an Episcopal minister, elucidates the spiritual depth and historical richness of Celtic traditions. He recounts his own spiritual journey, revealing how early experiences in a boys' center in Chicago led him to seminary and ultimately to a ministry that spanned over three decades. This background sets the stage for his exploration of the themes of community, spirituality, and the unique practices of Celtic Christianity, which he argues offers vital insights for contemporary seekers of faith. Jennings emphasizes the importance of understanding the soul's connection to God and the significance of prayer, illustrating how these elements are woven into the fabric of Celtic spirituality. He articulates that Celtic Christianity is not a departure from traditional Christianity but rather an enriching perspective that emphasizes God’s presence in nature and the sanctity of every individual.
Throughout the discussion, Jennings also introduces the concept of "thin places"—locations where the divine and the mundane intersect, offering glimpses of the sacred in everyday life. He encourages listeners to seek these moments of divine encounter in their own lives, reaffirming that Celtic Christianity’s legacy continues to resonate in today's diverse spiritual landscape. By the end of the episode, Jennings leaves the audience with a call to embrace the communal aspects of faith and to cultivate deeper relationships with God and one another through practices rooted in Celtic traditions.

Welcome to my dojo, this is Kung Fu Pizza Party. Today, I'm sitting down to review four mobile games; one that claims to be a fighting game but has no fighting elements in it, two that don't allow you to imput specific attacks but one does that better than the other, and one pure fighting game. It's a lot to cover but it is no where near as negative as you may assume.
