For class this week I had to take a quiz to determine my spiritual gifts.  In this episode, I react to my quiz results, state my opinion on spiritual gift quizzes in general, and spend some time wondering where in the world this concept even came from.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is absolutely massive! Our hosts Dan Steuer and Joe Dea discuss the impact the MCU formula has had on the film industry and what we can learn about our faith from that. We did it!  We've made it a whole year, and to celebrate, we've got a packed show.  First, a walk down memory lane of all the different ways I've opened the show.  Then, I talk the business, business, business end of things and how you all can help decide how the ministry will expend in 2022.  Finally, my wife Claire hops in the episode to discuss her experience with Lent this year.  Thank you all so much for making this show possible!

This is part 7 of 8 in our Church Offices series! We are talking about the office of the elder and what it means to be an elder. We learn many Churches define elder and pastor the same, some Churches ordain elders while others do not, some believe elder is its own position, and others believe these are simply men and women we respect in the Word. How we define this office and understand how others define elders could bring huge implications for Church unity. Is a Church board the same as a plurality of elders? Can elders fill in for the pastor? Should we use this term at all?

.

This episode includes interviews with Dr Russell Moore of Christianity Today, Rev Steve Lanclos of the Anglican tradition, Pastor Will Rose of the Lutheran tradition, Pastor Gary Adkins of the Pentecostal tradition, Rev Keno Cannady of the AME Zion Church, Joe Dea of the home church and host of Buddy Walk with Jesus, Professor Chris Moreland of the Catholic tradition, Sister Rose of the Catholic tradition, Kelly O'Sullivan of the Anglican Church, and Father Jonathan Resmini of the Orthodox tradition.

We are talking all about Dark Souls, Elden Ring, and more! Hosts Joshua Noel and TJ Blackwell discuss the FromSoftware games! TJ ranks the games, Joshua discusses his experience playing his first Dark Souls game, and they both discuss the meaning of these games. We compare how Dark Souls describes what a soul is to how the Biblical authors understood the term, then we discuss what might be impacting our souls in our daily lives now. Are we hollowed by our own actions? Should we try to hollow ourselves of parts of our souls? And what is the ultimate sacrifice that resets the world? Let us know what your favorite FromSoftware game is on our website: systematicgeekology.org

What is administration?  Some people may see it as a dirty word from the business world that has crept into the church.  Other's may go as far as to idolize it for the sake of keeping the church running.  Today, in our kickoff to the class Ministry Administration, I will be doing a word study on the roots of this word to better understand its place in a church or ministry no matter its size.

Special Bonus Episode crossover event between "Systematic Geekology", "The Whole Church Podcast", and "Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (Chapel Hill, NC)"! Pastor Will Rose interviews Joshua K Smith about his new book "Robot Theology: Old Questions Through New Media". They discuss what role robots play in our lives now, what role they might one day play, and more! Does it matter how I treat Alexa? Should robots challenge the way we think and live? What role do robots play in our discussion on racism? Share any other questions you have on our website: systematicgeekology.org
