This is preliminary to the actual Art Exhibit I curate at A Perfect Union Art Gallery @ West Oaks Mall. The Opening Reception is Saturday, February 7th, 5-8 pm.

We are living in extraordinary times!

There is a group of Buddhist Monks, along with a stray dog, Aloka, who followed them on a similar pilgrimage in India, from the Huong Dao Vipassana Center in Ft. Worth Texas who are walking to promote Peace, Compassion and Non-Violence.

Their 2,300 mile journey started on October 26, 2025 and will end in Washington DC around the middle of February 2026.

Buddhism is a philosophy and religion that offers a path to end suffering by understanding its causes and following the Noble Eightfold Path to reach Nirvana.

I am lucky to live near many different religious temples, mosques, monasteries, and houses of worship that i have visited and attended events at.

it's important that we educate ourselves and have an Open Heart and Mind in an effort to expose ourselves to diversity of thought and religion.

We are living through a time of incredible change. 2026 is also the year we celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. We are still fighting for Power, Freedom, Equity, Equality, Compassion, and Love for Humanity.

As many of you know, I grew up in Philadelphia which is where the Democratic experiment unfolded.

Last year in October, during the government shutdown, I revisited historical sites like the Liberty Bell, Independence Mall, and Carpenter Hall. These places were closed but i was able to remind myself of the role Philadelphia played in this historical process.

I would also recommend watching Ken Burn's PBS 12 hour spectacular called " The American Revolution".

If you are you are not familiar with these documents go to the National Constitution Center which is located in Philadelphia or visit the link below . Educate yourself and share the resources provided. Reflect on what, if any, relevance these documents have to you at this moment in time.

The 3rd time is a charm! Eric and i engaged in conversation for a 3 hours before we actually began the podcast. He thought he was recording and he wasn't and i thought i had place my phone on do not disturb and I had not! Whew, if only you knew what we talked about on and off the record. This is my way of saying engage in conversation with someone you know, don't know, someone with more life experince than you and bonus points an Elder!

Njeri Kinuthia is an Artist from Kenya who is a tenured professor at the University of Central Florida.

In this conversation, Njeri, shares information about her life's journey and inspiration.

There is also a discussion about how male and female genitals depicted in her art were/are a way to express artistically "freedom" from a oppressive patrilineal society.

Fusion Fest Orlando is an annual event which is the Saturday and Sunday of Thanksgiving week on the lawn in front of the Dr. Phillips Performing Arts Center in Orlando, Florida.

The diversity and culture represented in the Central Florida region is why I chose to move here from Philadelphia, PA more than 30 years ago.
