  • Ep. 5: Lost In The Melanin

In this episode of Lost in the Melanin, I share my experience of being crowned as a spiritual leader within my African lineage and the mission passed down by my ancestors for both my family and the collective empowerment of our people.

We discuss melanin as both a source of strength and a shadow where we lose ourselves in debates over Black identity, and how overcoming divisions is key to unity. The fight against oppression is far from over. We talk about supporting Black businesses, channeling our collective energy, and creating the change we need. Finally, we challenge the illusion that reincarnation doesn’t exist, and how our ancestors understood that their sacrifices would lead to rewards in future lives, teaching us that death was a step toward liberation.

  • Ep. 4: Past Life Problem, Present Day Pain

In this episode of Ancestral Thoughts, we dive deep into how everything in life is cyclical, bound by nature’s rhythms. But many spiritual and religious doctrines teach us to deny this cycle, leading to self-harm and spiritual disconnection. We explore how modern distractions—like chemicals and sugar—keep us trapped in a delusion, preventing true healing and growth.

The episode also touches on how historical traumas, though not far behind us, continue to haunt us. Many of us disassociate from the pain of our ancestors, repressing it on a spiritual and soulful level because we’re not ready to face the painful truth of our journeys. And, how, often, the very colonizers who inflicted this trauma are now embedded in the bodies of our own people, perpetuating the cycle.

Join us as we challenge these harmful narratives and look at how reconnecting with our pain can help us heal, grow, and finally move forward.

  • Ep. 3: Seperation: The Great Illusion

In Episode 3 of Ancestral Thoughts, titled "Separation: The Great Illusion", we explore how the idea of separation shapes our view of ourselves and society. This episode challenges us to look inward, examining how our judgments and perspectives impact the world around us. We discuss the power we give to societal figures and institutions, questioning how these influences reflect our own voices. Real change starts with us, the people, who shape society's values and direction. This episode calls us to take responsibility for growth and unity, knowing that those who resist may be left behind as we strive toward harmony and progress.

  • Ep. 2: Sex Aint Sexy No More!

In this episode of Ancestral Thoughts, Sex Ain't Sexy No More!, we explore the vital role of spiritual hygiene in intimate relationships, highlighting how generational traumas and energetic attachments unknowingly shape our connections. We also discuss how trauma can cause disassociation from our bodies and the journey to reconnect through self-touch and somatic practices, fostering empowerment and self-discovery. Finally, I share my personal path of reclaiming my body, setting boundaries, and affirming my right to consent, paving the way toward healthier relationships with myself and others.

  • Ep. 1: What the Hell is Goin' on in the Diaspora?

In this opening episode of Ancestral Thoughts, we explore discipline as a path of self-devotion rather than punishment, emphasizing the worthiness of our aspirations. We discuss the complexities of healing, recognizing that much of our pain lies in the shadows of the subconscious, particularly for people of color, as we confront generational trauma that demands acknowledgment.

We also examine the disconnection within the diaspora—from Africa to the Caribbean and beyond—urging listeners to see our shared humanity and the love that binds us. It’s a call to reclaim our connections and honor the ancestors who have come before us.

    About Ancestral Thoughts

    From the publisher's feed

Ancestral Thoughts is a podcast for reclaiming identity, power, and history by decolonizing African Traditional Religions (ATR). This space empowers African, Diasporic, and Indigenous people to heal and reconnect with ancestral wisdom. With raw, authentic discussions on trauma, sexuality, spirituality, culture, and holistic healing, we explore heritage, philosophy, and the natural world. Led by an Indigenous and African Diasporic voice, initiated in the sacred medicine of the Iroquois, we honor the beauty, rage, and truth of our lineage to guide us forward.
