It’s fine and good and free from scandal to talk about God the Living One,

or God the Comforter, or God the Redeemer, or God the Artisan, or God the

Abba, or even God the Shepherd, but to Consider God the Judge? 

No way. No thank you. 

That’s the metaphor most people don’t like. But why?

Consider God Towards Us

Some of us are following Christ, but our fists are still raised. We’re still living defensively, wary of the world and afraid to trust because we might get hurt again. And if you’re following Christ but you’re still living that way, if you’re still living afraid, it might be that you haven’t released those hurts to Jesus, who charged into the threats and wrestled them to death, even death on the cross.
