But physicist Max Tegmark proposed something far more complicated: a map of 12 possible futures, each defined by who holds power, what happens to humanity, and whether conscious experience still has a place in the world that follows.

In this documentary, we explore those 12 scenarios — from futures where humans remain firmly in control to worlds governed by machines, permanent surveillance systems, technological stagnation, peaceful coexistence, human succession, and outcomes where humanity disappears entirely.

At the center of the framework is a simple but unsettling idea: a sufficiently advanced system may eventually be able to improve both its own software and the physical systems it operates through. Tegmark describes this as Life 3.0 — a form of intelligence capable of redesigning itself rather than waiting for biological evolution.

We examine scenarios such as the enslaved god, where humans retain control over a superintelligence, the gatekeeper, designed to prevent other advanced systems from being created, and the benevolent dictator, where machines provide safety and abundance while humans surrender meaningful control over their own future.

But some of the most disturbing possibilities are not about extinction at all. Tegmark’s framework includes futures where humanity survives in comfort but loses autonomy, purpose, or any meaningful role in shaping what comes next. In audience rankings, some people considered those outcomes even worse than extinction itself.

The documentary also looks at a scenario that requires no future superintelligence: an Orwellian surveillance state powered by technologies that already exist today. Modern machine learning can process enormous amounts of surveillance data at a scale that previous authoritarian systems could never achieve.

And importantly, these are scenarios, not predictions. Tegmark’s framework is designed to help us think about possible outcomes and the choices that could move society toward—or away from—each one.

A group of young filmmakers wanted to create something that looked terrifyingly real. What happened next turned their homemade horror project into a criminal case — and left behind a mystery that people are still debating more than twenty years later.

In 2002, a group of friends in Michigan took a 19-year-old woman into the woods while filming with a camcorder. There was a blindfold, a car ride, a shallow hole in the ground, and a staged scene designed to look frighteningly convincing.

Nobody died. But when the videotape eventually reached the police, what had been intended as a homemade horror production became evidence in a real criminal investigation. The central question was surprisingly difficult to answer: did she know she was participating in a movie — or did she genuinely believe what was happening was real?

The footage couldn't provide a simple answer. Parts of the night had never been recorded, and the surviving night-vision footage could be interpreted in completely different ways. According to the script, this ambiguity became central to both the legal case and the mystery that followed.

What happened after September 11, 2001 — when the cameras stopped showing the attacks and America began dealing with everything that came next?

The story of 9/11 is usually told through the events of a single morning. But some of the most extraordinary chapters began only afterward: an almost empty sky over the United States, thousands of aircraft ordered to land, hospitals preparing for patients who never arrived, months of recovery work at Ground Zero, and families searching for people who would never come home.

In this documentary, we explore the aftermath of September 11 — the enormous logistical, medical and human response that unfolded after the attacks.

We begin with one of the most remarkable aviation operations in modern history. With thousands of aircraft still in American airspace, the FAA ordered departures stopped and aircraft already flying to land at suitable airports. The result was a sky unlike anything air traffic controllers had seen before.

Across the border, Canada suddenly became part of the response. More than 200 aircraft were diverted to Canadian airports, while the small Newfoundland community of Gander received 38 unexpected flights.
