There are so many exciting things in the works that it’s a bit difficult to know where to begin. I’m going to go with my heart on this one, and start where the LIttle’s are.
Fundraising. Did you see that coming? If you’ve been on our Facebook page lately, you might have. Front and center is a rather fabulous video featuring Atticus Penner, dressed to the nines in his gala fundraiser attire, delivering a passionate (and in my experience, utterly uniquely presented) pitch for raising some extra funds for The Table before the end of the year. If you’re not a denizin of Facebook, you can also find that video posted to Youtube here. It’s worth watching even if giving financially isn’t part of how you engage with this community. I can’t remember a fundraising appeal ever making me feel as authentically joyful as this one does! And yes…I am hoping to get a pie in the face. (If that last sentence needs more context, go watch the video.)
Kids Table Christmas Special This Sunday! You know, one of the things I’m grieving these days is not getting to see and hear our young ones sing together at Christmas. Honestly, it doesn’t matter to me what they are singing. It’s the sound itself – the timbre of young voices, the inflections that are unique to a group of kids making music together. Well, as with so many things this year, we don’t need to stay stuck in “lament” mode – there’s an alternative to engage with and to be grateful for. Here’s what Arielle has to say about this:
“To mark Christmas this year, Kids Table is hosting a virtual carol sing for the kiddos, this Sunday at 12:30 on Facebook rooms! Kids, think of your favourite Christmas song in advance, because we’ll be asking YOU to help choose what songs we sing! We’re looking forward to getting into the Christmas spirit with you all!” (Arielle)
Note: We will reschedule our Sunday Zoom Hangout (“And Lunch After?”) to 1:30 in order to keep that 12:30 slot as open as possible. Here’s where you can join whoever happens to drop by for our Sunday hang:

Not Quite Christmas. As we’ve previously noted, Not Quite Christmas this year will take place on Sunday, December 20th. It will take the form of a video that will be posted to our Facebook page, and also to a still-to-be-determined location on Youtube. Watch next week’s blurb for that detail.
But here’s what I think is the most intriguing part – this is a collaborative project! I’ve heard from some of you, but I want to hear from MANY MORE! Send me your pictures, sound recordings, poems, songs, etc, on the topic of “how I see light in the world these days”. Even if it’s a simple sentence that finishe
