Her Newfangled Podcast

And I Don't Do What Society Says I Should Do

Listen Later

This week, we're joined by the one and only Torey Edmonds. My namesake. My best friend. My mother. In this week's episode, she reflects on the early life lessons that shaped her into the woman she is today and explores how her commitment to stepping outside the norm influences her marriage, career, health, and overall outlook on life.

Besides holding the sacred title of my mother, Torey Edmonds serves as the Associate Director of Community Intervention at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), where she leverages her skills as a community activist to translate research into accessible information for residents and to support capacity-building among community members.

A true newfangled woman, she’s always walks to the beat of her own drum, embodying authenticity and boldness in everything she does. She brings this fearless energy to her work and personal life, inspiring those around her to embrace their own unique journeys. Known for her unwavering commitment to justice, she not only advocates for what’s right but empowers others to pursue what’s right for them, encouraging each person to live in alignment with their own values.

I'm deeply proud to call her my mother!
