Publisher's Summary:
"I was here. I saw beauty. I embraced it." - Kara Tippetts
How do you live out extravagant love in the everyday moments? How do you celebrate grace when your life turns out differently than the one you dreamed?
Kara Tippetts discovered how to find joy in the small moments of life. She learned how to hold tight to hope, even while battling intense physical and emotional pain. And she lived out the truth that God can redeem any story.
In her final book, Kara offers gentle reflections on living and dying well. She invites us to cultivate soft hearts, even when we face great disappointment. Her ideas for living are hard-won, wrestled with in the crucible of family, illness, and faith. And her constant reminder is that whether we are in the midst of dark days or mundane moments, Jesus is always there, life is surprisingly beautiful, and God is forever good.
Members Reviews:
And It Was Beautiful
There is a naivete in health.
An innocence that encourages long term planning without a second thought. A simple trust that you will be there for the next big thing.
But none of those things should be taken for granted; there are no guarantees.
Words like "able" and "more time" will have a different feel when there is disease; when they are used in a story like Kara Tippett's.
"And It Was Beautiful" is a book about cancer, yet it is not about cancer. It is a book about dying, but it is not about dying.
It is about the way to live life beautifully â to value each moment.
It is about the struggle to admit your own weakness and to depend on God to give you strength and to fill your days with His grace.
This book was easy to read, but so hard to finish. I did not want it to end.
When I first heard of her, I was looking for an example of someone who knew how to see beauty even in a story that included something like cancer, someone who understood the word "hard" as a noun and who knew their own weakness and what it looked like to search for the grace to make it each day. Â
Someone who could put this struggle into words.
That someone was Kara.
"And It Was Beautiful" is a collection of those words.

Discovering Jesus Through a Life Lived Beautifully
If you know Kara Tippetts, even if only through her writing, you knew what it was like to watch someone fully embrace God in the ordinary routines of life.
Kara wrote from her view point of holding on to life and those she loved with an open hand - allowing the details of God in every corner of her world.
She lived life BIG - she loved BIG - and she shared her life with us openly and honestly through her blog, Mundane Faithfulness.
Before Kara gracefully exited life here, she authored The Hardest Peace, and co-authored Just Show Up.
