Dorena has written several books for children. She has written “Crowned with Glory”, “The Celebration Place”, and most recently, “Brown Baby Jesus".

Entrepreneur and author, Tsombawi Kniybe, Jr., joins the podcast today.

Tsombawi discusses his experience with baby loss as chronicled in his book, “Letting Go of Baby Too:  From A Father’s Heart.”  His wife, wrote an initial book, “Letting Go of Baby”.  Years later, Tsombawi has seen women benefit from gathering in community to discuss their experiences around baby loss.

Tsombawi desires for men to also be healed and whole in the same way by learning how to share their feelings. He especially hopes men will feel permission to grieve who have experienced baby loss and might otherwise be overlooked .

Black to the Beginning Podcast hosts, Dr. Samantha Coleman and Sandria Washington, join the podcast today.

Dr. Sam and Sandria share with us their lived experiences around finding out as adults they were adopted.   They discuss the varied emotions they felt once they found out - such as validated, dejected, and traumatized. 

Dr. Sam and Sandria talk about how they started the podcast to give voice to adoptees as experts of their own lives.  They share how the church can assist adoptees by giving opportunity to hear their voices and experiences.  They also warn the church to be careful about  using their experiences to compare to being adopted into the family of God, especially as adoptees might be wrestling with learning their adoption status.

These women discuss how some adoptees might question God, and that’s okay.  And how, when it is all said and done,  God has chosen all of the adoptees as He knew about their experiences.

Tune in to this episode to hear how these brilliant women assist other adoptees with affirming the trauma around being adopted and dealing with the layered nuances as they journey through life.
