  • Keep Your Focus: Traditional 1-28-24
Every day we are given an opportunity to live distracted or devoted to the cause of Christ. We keep our focus on getting the message of Jesus to the ends of the earth and letting that commitment put everything else in perspective. Jesus never lost focus on His mission, and His mission has never been merely about converts. It has always been about people. If our motivation for people to come to know Jesus is not rooted in genuine sacrificial love, we’re missing the heart of the mission. We’re missing the heart of Jesus. Jesus said that, over anything else, the biggest party in heaven is about one saved soul. We Wreck-the-Roof so people can respond to the Good News about Jesus, so they come to know His saving grace. For that to happen, we must stay focused on and dedicated to the Word of God.

  • Remove the Obstacles: Traditional 1-21-24
Led by the Spirit to a man interested in God, Philip identified and removed the obstacles standing between the eunuch and faith and used his limited resources—his presence, his hope in Jesus, and his unique surroundings. If you want to wreck roofs for God, it starts with obedience, doing what He says to do. It starts with thinking more about others than yourself. Philip operated this way, hearing the Holy Spirit and doing what he was told with no objections. He didn’t hesitate. Jesus cared more about people than about what people thought of Him. As we seek to carry out Jesus’ mission and include others in it, we must meet people as they are, where they are, and show them how to have the best life with Jesus.

  • Watch For Opportunities: Traditional 1-14-24
The book of Acts shows us that after Pentecost, the first church took off. They began to speak boldly, proclaiming the Good News without fear. They looked for kingdom opportunities to share the love of Christ no matter the consequences. Our hope is that the example of these early Christians are a lens through which we can see the opportunities around us. Kingdom
opportunities require compassion and generosity; they call us to sacrifice. Kingdom opportunities require the power of the Holy Spirit, and the early church was completely dependent on the Holy Spirit. We, too, need to be committed to watching for our kingdom opportunities through prayer, teaching, sacrifice, and by trusting God to give us a deeper vision and purpose in every aspect of our lives.

  • The Roof Gets Wrecked: Traditional 1-7-24
A paralyzed man who could potentially be healed is carried by a few persistent friends to a packed house where Jesus is teaching. They did not see how they could get him to Jesus. Full of desperation, working together, and with love for the paralyzed man, these friends break through the roof of the home in which Jesus is teaching and lower him down into the presence of the now famous Healer. They allowed love and obedience and sacrifice to move through them to do whatever it took to get this man to Jesus. Jesus is emotionally moved by their faith and heals the man, not just physically, but also spiritually, by forgiving his sins. Wreck-the-Roof means that we are going to value risky innovation, doing whatever it takes to get one person to Jesus.

  • In Our Hopes and Dreams: Traditional 12-31-23
Almost every person lives with hopes and dreams. We hope for something that will bring more joy and peace to our lives. However, we often find ourselves putting our hope in the wrong things, like relationships, romance, and revenue as we dream of better days and a successful life for ourselves and for those we love. But the way we measure personal success is different from God’s perspective, and what we hope for and dream of may not align with God’s vision for our life. As we linger in the last hours of this year and think about the upcoming days of a new year, it is to our benefit to keep our hopes and dreams rooted in God alone, who gives us peace for each day. Be certain that whatever the year ahead holds, He will be with you.
