  • New Commands
This week we will see that God told Moses that there were three things that needed to be in place for His coming. First, God wanted to be close to them but the problem of sin created a breach between them. So He provided Moses with instructions about the practice of sacrifice, the offering of a covering for the people’s indiscretions before a Holy God. Second, God wanted to stay close to them so He gave Moses the blueprints for building the Tabernacle. But God also wanted His people to be close to each other so He declared a third thing and gave them ten commandments concerning relationships.

  • Deliverance
Every one of us has a sin nature which separates us from God. It is the number one barrier between us and God and is the cause of death. Only God has the solution. In this part of The Story, we see that God’s new nation is in danger of annihilation in Egypt. God chooses Moses to lead the deliverance. Feeling unqualified, Moses voices this to God, who promises to equip him to confront Pharaoh with God’s demand, “Let my people go!” We all are in slavery to sin. Death, the destroyer, is coming. We need the blood of a lamb just as the Israelites did. The deliverance from sin is free, but you must ask for it.

  • Joseph
The story of Joseph is a crystal-clear example of the intertwining of the two story lines in the Bible, God’s story and the human story. Through the story of Joseph, we see that God is at work in the midst of the details of our lives accomplishing His good purposes. Knowing that God’s story line is unfolding even in bleak and confusing times allows us to live freely, being able to forgive those who sin against us. God tests us in order to build our faith in Him and strong character in us.

  • God Builds A Nation
God chose Abram and Sarai to begin the new nation. An unlikely pair, especially after factoring in the fact that Sarai was barren. God chooses unlikely people, people you and I wouldn’t necessarily select to take part in His story. Unlike the way we do business, He taps people not merely because of their abilities, but for their availability. God searches for people who are open to be used by Him. Let there be no doubt, throughout history He is the one making things happen. God chooses ordinary people like you and me. You are not disqualified to be used greatly in God’s great Story. You also may reveal God and reflect His plan to win people back

  • Creation
Through His powerful Word, God created everything out of nothing, with the pinnacle of His creation being the core of God’s passion: human beings. God created Adam and Eve with the freedom and power to choose; God does not force love. From the creation story we discover the value of all human beings. We see a salvation clue in the midst of the opening story hinting at God’s plan to bring us back into proper relation with Him. God wants to be with you. Think about that. At great cost to Himself, God has done everything possible to get you back. You are valuable. True, lasting self-esteem begins by believing what God says about you
