The story of Joseph is a crystal-clear example of the intertwining of the two story lines in the Bible, God’s story and the human story. Through the story of Joseph, we see that God is at work in the midst of the details of our lives accomplishing His good purposes. Knowing that God’s story line is unfolding even in bleak and confusing times allows us to live freely, being able to forgive those who sin against us. God tests us in order to build our faith in Him and strong character in us.

God chooses unlikely people, people you and I wouldn’t necessarily select to take part in His story. Unlike the way we do business, He taps people not merely because of their abilities, but for their availability. God searches for people who are open to be used by Him. Let there be no doubt, throughout history He is the one making things happen. God chooses ordinary people like you and me. You are not disqualified to be used greatly in God’s great Story. You also may reveal God and reflect His plan to win people back

Sharing those stories with others brings hope to a despairing world. The church has something to offer and extend that is not available anywhere else—Jesus, who came to seek and save the lost. As people who received the amazing grace of God through Jesus, we are the perfect choice for sharing hope with the world.

You were never meant to attend church and simply be a spectator. God has given each of us gifts, talents and abilities so that we can all work together to make a difference in the church, our community and our world. When Paul taught about the church, the body of Christ, he stressed that each person plays a vital part in accomplishing the mission of strengthening the body and spreading the gospel message. Every person has been given a spiritual gift and a place to use it for the love of others. How are you making a difference?
