Andy B 2 Minute Video, Fires, Vents and Fuel S4, E37
Log Burners are great for romantic nights, or just to warm the room. However, it isn’t always quite as simple as just throwing some wood inside and chucking in a match!
You’ve got make sure the wood is dry – in the UK it is really frowned upon to use wet wood in a fire in a home. You’ve also got to think about using any vents on the fireplace to help build the fire and supply it with enough air. It even matters how you first stack the initial wood – not enough kindling and you won’t be able to get the bigger logs to start burning.
It’s rightly said that using a log burner is more of an art than a science
And so it is with life – we can’t just run at life and hope for the best. We do need to think about all sorts of things, just like with a fireplace.

Go Deeper with Andy B, as he talks about going back to basics.
Andy mentions supermarkets’ basic items ranges as he looks at how the word ‘basic’ means different things to different people.
He refers to the life of a character in the film called The 100-foot Journey, as a means of demonstrating how important it is to go back to basics at times.
He looks at John 3:16, default positions, roots, and more…

Pancakes are a great way of having fun while you cook AND eat. And we like them a lot in the BerryBunch household!
We all take part in both sides of the process, but, of course, the ending – and eating – is always the more popular. And that’s just Andy and Jo!
Sometimes it’s good not to fiddle with things – like painting. Paint over the spot too many times, and you ruin your work.
But food? Sometimes a little fiddling as it cooks is a great way to get the best result.
It may not make a huge difference to the eating, but since a picture paints a thousands words, and the proof is in the pudding, the final appearance really does matter!

Introduction
Andy B and Jo wax lyrical about the benefits of the having Date Night in our marriages. A Date Night, as far as Jo and Andy are concerned, is a designated, planned, quality time with your spouse where spontaneity does not have to go out the window!
In fact, Date Night, in Jo and Andy’s experience can be Date Day, Date Lunch or Date Drive! Anytime, any place when you spend time together as a couple is a kind of ‘Date Night’ or a variation on this theme and what you do with that time is totally up to you!
As ever, Andy B comes in with some scripture to inspire us and think more deeply of the value and principles behind Date Night – Date night per se might not be in the bible but the beauty and purpose of hanging together as a couple is!
#RealTalk – ‘Date Night’
Tips and Resources
Andy & Jo encourage us to be creative with our Date Nights; going out or staying in for meals together, playing games, watching films, doing stuff we enjoy!
Andy & Jo recommend that we plan our Date Nights, but not become so rigid or legalistic about these dates, be flexible, but make that time together when you can.
Check out the following bible verses to inspire and deepen your desire to spend quality time with your spouse:
- Genesis 2: 24-25
- Song of Songs 3:1-5

Instructions manuals – they tell us so much, about so many things. Most of which, of course, we ignore because, well, we don’t need those functions.
Until we do.
Then we wonder where the manual went, or spend endless amounts of time finding out which set of numbers is the model number, so we can find a manual online. Only to find that still isn’t the model number, until we find the actual appliance we have, realise our model number was correct, so why did the website not know about the very thing we’re starting at, right now!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ever typed in a password that you know is absolutely correct, only to be told you’ve been locked out of that really important - account because you got your password wrong too many times. Even though you knew you were right. Then you go through the process of having to reset your password, retype your original password (the one the computer doesn’t match its records) only to be told you can’t reuse your last password – you know, the one you were just told, moments ago, was not the one it recognised.
So often in life, we get so frustrated when a piece of technology fails to function. Perhaps it was working last time you used it, but now it is nothing more than an expensive paperweight.
Well, the BerryBunch have been having just that sort of entertainment after setting up a new internet router, which was bought because Andy dropped the last one while moving. And it turns our delicate electronic devices don’t enjoy being dropped from a height onto a hard object, like the floor.

Jo saw a sign that stated “No Ball Games”. And, she thought, well that doesn’t sound like much fun.
So, she has become our first guest for an Andy B 2 Minute Video.
Jo takes us through what the sign can mean, whether it means anything, and how it can make us feel!
So, have you seen any signs that seem to have the goal of spoiling simple fun?

Andy’s always been careful with mobiles phones (cell phones) and his current phone has - like so many before it - got a screen protector to protect the phone’s screen from scratches, chips or cracks.
But, ever since he added his current protector, it’s been on a little wonky. Sure, it’s been put on straight, but it just isn’t centred.
Which has irked him quite a bit!
Sometimes things can come along which simply annoy, when they really shouldn’t.
Andy’s been wanting to replace the screen protector ever since he first fitted it, and now he needs to, but is annoyed having to.
So, why do some frustrate us, when they really shouldn’t?

Sunflowers always make me smile. They always do! There is something truly happy about a sunflower.
And much like sunflowers, we need to try and track the sun. In our case, the Son of God. Little but of wordplay, but you get the idea.
Because we can sometimes feel like God has gone cold either on us, or at us. Either way, we’re wrong – if you’re feeling like you’ve lost the warmth of God’s face on yours, make like a sunflower, and track His face to feel His warmth once more.

Introduction
Andy B and Jo talk candidly about their own experiences of sickness in their marriage from Andy’s hospitalisation on their honeymoon, various ailments, and illnesses, through the years and, more recently, Covid affecting the whole family.
Looking again at marriage vows which call us to commit to each other through the good times and the bad, Andy and Jo focus on health-related issues in marriage.
As always, Andy B gives us direction in this area of marriage through the scriptures, beginning with a favourite at weddings: 1 Corinthians 13:1-7 – all about love - ties in nicely with Valentine’s Day! And Andy B reminds us of how there is no greater love than when someone lays down their life – like Jesus did for us – Romans 5:7
In this week’s Marriage Matters, we consider the benefits of looking after each whether you, or your spouse, face emotional, mental, spiritual, or physical sicknesses. Check out the bible verses in our resources section below to encourage you to have and to hold your spouse in sickness and in health!
#RealTalk – ‘In sickness and health’

If you have ever played Snakes and Ladders it is a super simple game. Shake your dice, move the number of spaces you’re told to move and the basic goal is to never land on a snake!
Ladders help you jump up the game, to get nearer to the end (first one to the end wins!). But, land on a snake, and it takes you back the way you’ve just come.
But, I wonder if we sometimes thank that God is sitting there just wishing and hoping for us to land on a snake.
But, that simply isn’t God’s nature.
Actually, neither is helping us get to all the ladders. Because, if we rush through life, never having to face problems two things will happen. One is that we’ll get bored real quick. The second is that when we miss a ladder, we’ll have no clue what to do, because we’ve been avoiding life’s difficulties.
Board games are all about random chance, for the most part. But the life of a Christian is the antithesis of this. With God there is no random.
Sure, we have free will. But the idea that things can randomly happen completely misses who God is, as our loving Heavenly Father.
So if you’re going through life, thinking that you’re one roll of the dice away from disaster. Or you’re simply wishing to grab that ladder to avoid all the difficulties in you life, change your mindset, and just keep going.
