It’s easy to jump into the day with a smile on our face and a coffee in our hand. Although I don’t recommend jumping with a coffee in your hand, unless you have a sealed flask that you trust. Then your smile will change and you’ll remember you should have drunk tea instead!
However we start the day – whether we love mornings or loathe them, we all face similar issues, that have nothing to do with how much money we have, whether we work in the home or in an office or on a building site or whether we work at all!
We will, each of us, face challenges which will knock us for six and toss us around like a leaf on a giant, cresting, wave as it reaches the land.
When you become a Christian the devil will seek to corrupt you, distract you, tempt you, put you down and make you as insignificant as he can make you feel. That’s all he knows to do, because he’s fighting a rear guard action from a battle that he has already lost.
Don’t ever underestimate the devil, but don’t ever forget that, as Christians, we’re on the side that already won the final battle…and that God is bigger, so there’s never a need to fear with God walking behind us, ahead of us, by our side…
Sometimes we can feel so down by life – and we’ve all been there, for a billion different reasons – that we want to give up.
Don’t! Get up and fight. You can’t stand while lying down, so get up and stand. And if you have to fight to get on your feet get it done!
Just a thought…

Whatever is going on; whatever your life looks like right now; wherever you’ve come from; whatever is looming ahead of you – there is always reason to Praise God!
At the time of recording this video, I am finding myself breathless
For me, it will pass and is simply the side effect of having my heart medication dropped by 50%. That is a good thing, but it is not a pleasant thing to work through!
However, it is still worth making the effort to Praise God!
Whatever we may feel like can change in an instant, and making the effort to Praise God, no matter what, is the very best, most reliable route I know - and have ever experienced – of dealing with negative emotion feeling, and allowing God to redeem them into something amazing.
There is always something to be thankful for, even if it takes us a moment to see it.
So, no matter what Praise God. Nuff Said!

We all see change and can get a bit freaked out. Losing control is another one that can make us very uncomfortable.
Perhaps I’m more unique though, because I really do enjoy change! I’m not daft enough to think that some change doesn’t infuriate me. But that’s because a lot of change is utterly unnecessary.
Here’s the thing for those of us who have decided to become Christians – change, and losing control, is at the very core of being a Christian!
When we say sorry for the things we’ve done in our life, that we know God was not happy with; when we choose heaven and peace on earth, over hell and hell on earth, we are choosing two things at that very moment. One of those is change, and one of those is losing control.
Both are heavily rewarded. Actually, there is nothing that God can ask us us to place in His control; in His hands, that will not be a greater blessing than however important that ‘thing’ may have been to us.
So what does accountability have to do with that? It’s really simple.
When we become Christians we are, at one level, simply admitting that we can’t do this life on our own – that we need God’s help.
But God loves us so much He puts people in our path who can help us become ever more like Jesus – those people will help hold us to account, and we need that.
Watch a high calibre race and you’ll see the runners held to account – by someone setting the pace they need to run at.
We need those pace setters too – people who hold us to account and pushing us to our absolute best.

Nathan and Steven are back! In this episode of Endurance, they are looking at what to do when you make a mistake.
Endurance is your weekly spiritual workout, whether you think of yourself as a beginner, an intermediate, or advanced!
#GoDeeper
Steven begins by reminding us of the obvious truth that we are human and therefore make mistakes. With that in mind, we need to know what to do when we make a mistake. He goes on to relate what one would do if they fell during a race.
When looking for appropriate Scriptures, he realised that repentance is the key to getting back up after making a mistake. Repentance is simple acknowledging where we went wrong and apologising to all those affected, first and foremost God.
He points out that often the consequences of our mistakes don’t show themselves until later. We need to deal with those consequences as they come along.
Steven also touches on preventing certain mistakes.
#GoDo
Nathan and Steven further develop some salient points made in GoDeeper:
1.We can’t recover when we stumble or fall until we accept it.
2.It’s really comforting to know that even if we stumble, God doesn’t give up on us.
Check out this week’s episode to learn how to get back up again when we stumble and fall.

If you’ve ever watched the film, Finding Nemo - or Finding Dory – you’ll appreciate the fact the Dory, is a small blue fish, is a bit forgetful. She’s also incredibly joyful. And she is also well know for her little song when everything is going horribly wrong and those infamous words,
“Just keep swimming”.
If life has go you down today, don’t worry about it.
Firstly, because there is no point in worrying – just like rocking fast on a rocking chair…you move as far along the road as you would do if you rocked not at all!
Secondly, don’t worry about it because tomorrow is a new opportunity.
If life has you down, just keep swimming – literally keep moving; keep moving!
And in the words of an Admiral of the US Navy, always start your day by making your bed. Sometimes you will have good days and sometimes you’ll have bad days. But if you make your bed before you start your day, you’ll have something welcome when you finally get back to bed.
Today I am tired. But it will pass. And, until then, I’m gonna just keep on swimming

It’s no fun when you are in a place of deep sleep and are rudely woken at 3am with your heart pounding: this has become my normality too frequently. And, while I’ve been told by my cardiologist to just ignore palpitations - because I know what atrial fibrillation feels like – and carry on as normal, I can’t.
At 3AM, when my heart starts pounding away badly, all I want to do is go downstairs - as quietly as possible and wait it out. Card games, a cup of tea and a film, or two, is as much as I can manage.
I can want it ‘not to be’…but it is what it is.
So how, then, did God know to speak to Kind David, many thousands of years ago, who then wrote down the words of his own struggles - which were identical to mine…in 2023, in the lounge in my home?!?
Psalms 55 contains 3 small verses - written for anybody struggling with any kind of heart rhythm issues! Because it speaks of a heart pounding in your chest; of the terror that generates in your mind and how desperately you want to escape to anywhere peaceful just to escape away from what you’re facing.
And that, right there, is exactly how I feel each time I face an episode of heart palpitations – or atrial fibrillation, for that matter.
If I die I know I’m going to heaven and that provides all the peace I will ever need.
But do you know that same peace?
If you do, great!
If you don’t, please reach out to me so I can pray with you

How do you work out whether something is good for you, or not?
God’s made us with some amazing intelligence, and yet we can be “dumb as a bucket of shrimp” when we allow what people tell us, to over rule what God has already told us.
Of course we should seek medical advice about some things, but it should never over rule our ability to, also, pray and ask God in faith - for a miracle.
I’ve prayed for healing that I’ve either seen happen for others, or have received myself. And I’ve also seen prayers not answered.
Right now I’m not able to fast from food as my current medication advises against that – so I don’t fast from food. Ignore instructions and you’ll find yourself in a mess!
Today’s thought is all around honey – I heard someone say we shouldn’t eat honey as it has sugar, and is therefore really unhealthy for us to eat. However, God states that it is good for us to eat honey.
So, how do we work out who is right?
Well, really simply, God is always right! If He said it, we can trust it.
However, unless He states it emphatically we need to apply a little wisdom to our question, and perhaps phone a friend, or maybe go see a doctor.
Seeing a doctor doesn’t make you have less faith, any more than praying in faith for a healing makes you have more faith. Trust God because He is God! But don’t lean on your own understanding either and blindly walk where nobody else is…

I was out for a walk one day and tracking my exercise on a sports app - I like it because I can see how my heart rate is doing, what my average walking pace is etc. However, on one occasion, when I checked my app, the map was just a horrible mess: imagine a 3 year old with a crayon and lots of sugar, and you’d have what I had on the screen of my mobile phone.
For a really good fix on where you are at any point, you need more than one satellite to help locate you and your device. Three is a good starting point. And, not surprisingly, there is another ‘three’ that also helps us navigate through life, and that three is often referred to as the Trinity.
While it isn’t a biblical title, it does help understand the role that God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit have together.
Deny God and you’ll get confused.
Deny Jesus and you’ll end up in hell (literally and figuratively).
Deny the Holy Spirit and you’ll get lost.
The Trinity is made up of 3 distinct parts; 3 separate people and we need all 3 of those people for a balanced faith - as Christians.
If you revere God and trust His words in the Holy Bible; if you believe that Jesus died and rose again for your sins; if you allow the Holy Spirit to guide your steps, you won’t have a massive, messy squiggle of mess like the map on my sports app - just check out the Israelites and their decades in the desert!!
Global Positioning Satellites are really amazing technology.
But the Moon is much bigger, and way better…and I know the hands that put that in its place!
