Andy Kelley spent four total seasons on the Wildcats women's basketball staff as an assistant, prior to coming to USM. While there, he helped lead the team to a 90-36 record, as well as a Heart of America Athletic Conference regular-season and tournament championship in 2017. The Wildcats also made three NAIA National Tournament appearances – two Sweet 16 and one Final Four appearance along with a runner-up finish in 2016.

He also coached and recruited four NAIA All-Americans, 10 All-Conference selections, a two-time conference Defensive Player of the Year, and one conference Player of the Year.
