Andy Schwetz is a fine art and documentary photographer based in Munich, Germany. His work focuses on the melancholy of the past, history and old architecture, as well as detailed series about places with tragic pasts. His work also always contains a touch of social criticism, which gives his photographs a much deeper meaning than meets the eye.

Andy isn't afraid to go places you're not supposed to go. He travelled to the Chernobyl exclusion zone several times, and came back with haunting yet beautiful pictures. His images show what happens when humanity is served the bill for its hubris.

His most recent project is called GARDENS OF TIME, and it's a must-see. You can find it on FOUNDATION. It is an expressive series of photographs dedicated to nature and its reconquest over man-made structures. In the series, you will find places that, once abandoned by humans, are coming back to life. It shows us who really is in charge on this planet. Spoiler: it’s not us!
