With Election Day approaching, Andy takes a break from the regular devotional series to reflect on politics, Scripture, and Christian faithfulness in a deeply divided world. Drawing on the image of Christians seeking a better, heavenly country and John Wesley's practical advice during a contentious election in 1774, Andy encourages listeners to let their faith shape their politics without allowing political disagreements to harden their hearts. In Titus 2, Paul repeatedly calls the church to lives marked by self-control, goodness, and faithfulness. But Christian self-control is about more than willpower or trying harder. Andy explores how the grace of God not only saves us but also trains and transforms us through the work of the Holy Spirit. In the closing verses of 2 Timothy, Paul asks Timothy to bring Mark because he is useful in ministry—a striking moment given the earlier conflict between Paul and Mark that led to a sharp separation between Paul and Barnabas. This reflection considers the beauty of relationships that change over time and the possibility of reconciliation after disappointment, conflict, or hurt. Not every relationship can return to what it once was, and reconciliation requires wisdom, but sometimes we can take the first step toward healing. In 2 Timothy 4:1–8, Paul urges Timothy to proclaim the truth with patience, endure hardship, and remain faithful even when people would rather hear what confirms their own desires. This reflection explores why Christian doctrine matters, how harmful experiences and hypocrisy have contributed to distrust of the church, and why spiritual growth requires more than listening to voices that always agree with us. Podcasts and devotionals can be valuable tools, but they cannot replace Christian community. We need people who love us enough to encourage us, challenge us, and lovingly point us back to Jesus. Faith was never meant to be lived in isolation; we need the body of Christ.

In 2 Timothy 3:10–17, Paul reminds Timothy that Scripture is inspired by God and equips us for faithful living. This reflection explores the original context of Paul’s words, the Bible’s overarching story of creation, sin, redemption, and restoration, and the importance of reading Scripture carefully and faithfully. In our Traditional Message celebrating the 100th Anniversary of our sanctuary, Andy looks at Exodus 13: 20-22. The Lord led the people as a pillar of fire by night; He led the people who helped build this sanctuary, and He leads us now. They were faithful in the past. May we do the same.

In 2 Timothy 3:1–9, Paul warns against an outward form of godliness that lacks the transforming power of faith and against continually learning without arriving at a life-changing knowledge of the truth. This reflection explores the danger of cultural Christianity, reminding us that following Jesus is about more than appearances, traditions, or accumulating biblical knowledge. Our faith should begin with a heart rooted in Christ and bear fruit in the way we live, love, and serve others. The goal isn’t simply to be fed spiritually, but to put what we receive into practice.
