In this week's episode of the Anecdotally podcast, Greer and Bethan get to the end of re-watching Season 1 of Louis Theroux's Weird Weekends and discuss episode 5 Weird Christmas. Greer and Bethan discuss whether it is worth trying to evangelize Manhattan by using helium balloons, wonder if Mountain Mike will get his first blow-job in 20 years and ponder how far is too far when getting naked outside.

In this week's episode of the Anecdotally podcast, Greer and Bethan take a look at the world of Right-Wing Patriots and Survivalists who are concerned about 'The New World Order' a conspiracy theory focusing on the rise of a secretive power elite with a globalist agenda to eventually rule the world. After re-watching Louis Theroux's Weird Weekends Season 1 Episode 4 Survivalists, Bethan takes the time to educate us on the tourist hotspots of Idaho including the Museum of Clean and Greer discusses why she can never step foot in a Wetherspoons.

In this week's Anecdotally podcast, Greer and Bethan get into discussing the porn industry thanks to episode three of Louis Theroux's Weird Weekends; a topic they never thought that they would be discussing together especially as their friendship began in a Latin class at an all girls Grammar school.

This week Greer and Bethan take a look back at Louis Theroux’s experiences with UFOs. He visits Thor Templar the self-proclaimed ‘Lord Commander of The Earth Protectorate’, communicates with an Extra-Terrestrial for $50 and goes on a tour with Renee, the ‘Wet Wipe’, to Area 51 (not 41.)

In another week of Coronavirus confusion, Greer and Bethan contemplate whether they actually know 6 members from other households that would willingly meet up with them in a park at two metres distance. As social distancing has been a firm feature of their friendship for the last few years, Bethan proves it to be even more essential when discussing bird seed, sparrow hawks and Chris Packham at the beginning of this episode.

As the Covid 19 Lockdown continues to ruin everybody’s plans for 2020, Bethan has started a complicated relationship with a Brownie delivery company and Greer has taken to blocking out the news by listening to Louis Theroux’s audiobook on repeat. To keep her away from Harry Potter “I promise it’s not sexual“ fan-fiction, Bethan suggested that the next few episodes of Anecdotally be a look back at Louis Theroux’s first ever documentary series from 1998, Weird Weekends in which he visits communities in America that hold strong beliefs and gets stuck in with their lifestyle.

In Episode 1 of Anecdotally’s Weird Weekends Watch-Along, we take a look back at Louis’ experiences with Born Again Christians. He visits a religious TV channel with Christian broadcasters Marcus and Joni Lamb, goes ‘witnessing‘ with infamous group ‘The Family’ and later attends a ‘revival’ where there is a huge amount of pressure to become Born Again.

They discuss whether religion is a performance, how much of it is peer pressure, and why a church youth group isn’t the best place to meet boys. Greer discusses how easy it is to not question religion when it’s something that you’ve grown up with and asks whether you can be a proud Atheist without sounding like a subreddit. Bethan questions whether Stilton is one step away from Jesus and reassures us that she has ‘never shit herself at a house party’.

We also discuss Greer’s unexpected career move during the lockdown, growing out your leg hair and how apparently more people don’t wear pants than you think.
