Kyoko Kitamura joins Dave Douglas to talk about her role as Executive Director for the Tri-Centric Foundation, in charge of the Braxton75 Living Archive Project and often preforming in Anthony Braxton’s works. Kyoko is a vocalist, improviser, composer, journalist, and former translator of Garfield cartoons in Japan. She talks about improvising systems, inventing a syntactic language in her own work, and working with ensembles, both improvised and composed.
