In this re-released episode, pianist and composer Marta Warelis, originally from Poland and now based in the Netherlands, joins Dave Douglas for a wide-ranging and engaging conversation about her creative practice. The episode opens with a newly recorded introduction in which they reflect on the album Four Freedoms, offering fresh insight and context before returning to their original exchange. From there, they discuss her work inside and outside the piano. Composition and improvisation, creation of sound on objects and her great collaborations.
