Angela Cava on BYU After #MeToo

Listen Later

In this episode I got the chance to speak with the host of the "BYU After #MeToo" podcast, Angela Cava. We talk about what inspired her to have a conversation about sexual assault culture at BYU and what she's learned. We explore how church teachings influence the culture and what's she's learned since starting her podcast. One of the main questions she asks each episode is: "Is BYU a safe place for sexual assault survivors?" Find out by listening!

Angela graduated from Brigham Young University with a BA in Journalism and a minor in sociology and editing. As a part of a capstone project Angela started the "BYU After #MeToo" podcast. Her podcast explores how BYU administration and culture has changed since the #MeToo movement which started in 2017. On her podcast she shares the stories of sexual assault survivors and their experiences at BYU. She tackles rape myths and the impact of modesty culture, and interviews administrators to clarify policies and explain what resources are available to students.
