Animal Crossing: New Horizons released on March 20, 2020, became a worldwide sensation at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. The Animal Crossing series is described as "a social simulation video game series developed and published by Nintendo / where the player character is a human who lives in a village inhabited by various anthropomorphic animals, carrying out various activities such as fishing, bug catching, and fossil hunting," (Wikipedia). New Horizons broke sales records with a whopping 26 million copies as of September 2020.
