Anime Was (Not) A Mistake

Putting aside our fears of Y2K, our humble little podcast embarks on another Pokémon adventure. This time we're focusing on Pokemon the Movie 2000: The Power of One. A greedy collector named Lawrence III has disturbed the balance of nature by attempting to capture the Legendary Birds. According to an ancient prophecy, only Lugia, the Guardian of the Seas, can hope quell the three warring titans. Lugia will need the help of the Chosen One to accomplish this task, and Ash Ketchum appears to be the only hero available. Ash journeys across the Shamouti Islands to secure three treasures and tame the Beast of the Sea. Our own Legendary Trio of hosts are happy to guide you through this island adventure, so we hope you'll join for a semi-healthy debate about which bird reigns supreme.

Was there anything more emotional than seeing Poké primes fight Poké clones, as the Dewgong cry? Join us as we discuss Mewtwo's ambivalence at being born into a world of pain and suffering … can brothers unite  and come together as one? Don't miss a single minute of this episode, you gotta catch em' all!

Long ago, Anime Was (Not) A Mistake got its start with an episode focusing on the The Castle of Cagliostro. Today, we return to the lively world of Lupin III for a globe-trotting, Nazi-punching adventure in the form of Lupin III: The First. Lupin is determined to solve the riddle of the Bresson Diary, a feet that even his legendary grandfather had failed at. Besides his usual band of friendly rivals, Lupin also teams up with an aspiring archeologist named Laetitia. Their fates bound by the Bresson Diary, the team resolves to stop the Nazis from getting their hands on a mysterious and destructive treasure. We hope you'll join us as Lupin III makes the (extremely fluid) leap into 3D animation.

You must tune in, in order to find out where we stand in the blood aftermath.

As a small treat to celebrate the New Year, we're bringing you two episodes in the same week. Whether you're a fan of Cher or anime, we have you covered. In Tatsuya Nagamine's One Piece Film: Z, Luffy and the rest of the Straw Hat crew will have their dreams put to the test. Their opponent is a former Marine Admiral known as Z, who leads the Neo Marines on a vengeful crusade against piracy. Z plans on using the Dyna Stones to bring the New World to a cataclysmic end. Luffy sets out to foil Z's plan and show the strength of his own convictions. We hope you'll join us for our latest visit to the world of One Piece, though it certainly won't be our last.

Snap out of it! And snap into the finale of our 2020 Holiday special with Moonstruck (1987). This Italian American "rom-com" has it all, Cher looking dowdy/kicking can, Opera buffa Nicholas Cage, slicing his hand off in a bread slicer, Catholic guilt, and plenty of "fanoodling." "Why do men chase women?" Is it because they fear death or have they not watched enough anime? We hope you all let the moon hit your eye, like a big pizza pie, cuz that's anime! A Bride without a Head! A Wolf without a Foot!

On today's episode, we descend into the shadowy, mutant-filled world of 90's television. Vampire Hunter D focuses on Doris Lang enlisting the help of the titular vampire hunter to stop the bloodthirsty Count Magnus Lee. Armed with a huge sword and a wisecracking left hand, D must battle against the mutants and monsters that make up the Count's court. Lamika, the count's daughter, and Rei, his space-warping servant, join the fight with their own agendas in mind. Make sure that your electro fences are operational as our humble podcast finally delves into this vampiric cult classic.
