Anna from Indiana: why men should care about sexism in STEM, the point of the Ivy League, the fallacies of AI, and interning at Amazon (Part 2/2)

Listen Later

What is the world missing when women are left out of tech or STEM? Anna shares personal perspectives about women and sexism in tech. We also talk about potential consequences of a continued departure of women from STEM and back it up with research. For example, in one study women were found to outdo men in eight out of eight measures of innovation (Proudfoot, Kay, and Koval, 2015). Anna also stresses why the lack of diversity in STEM is actually more problematic for this and future generations, assuming this trend of technology- and artificial intelligence (AI)-reliance continues. At the end, we talk about the details of her internship with Amazon (yes, Jeff Bezos' Amazon) this summer and about what we think the actual value of an Ivy League education is. How often do you get two Ivy League-ers in one podcast? Listen in. Think of this as the antithesis to that Google memo.
