Do you really have to ride to enjoy having a horse? In this episode, I talk about something many horse owners struggle with – the feeling that you're somehow not doing enough if you're not riding your horse. Maybe your horse is injured, older, or simply not rideable. Maybe you've lost your confidence, your motivation, or your interest in riding. Does that make your relationship with your horse any less valuable? Absolutely not. We'll explore the many wonderful things you can do with your horse without ever getting into the saddle. Nature walks, liberty work, trick training, groundwork, clicker training, massage, stretching, or simply spending quiet time together in the pasture. For many horses, these activities can be just as meaningful as being ridden. I also share my thoughts on why we so often allow other people's opinions to influence us. Do we really need to justify having a horse that we don't ride? Or can we choose to create the relationship that feels right for us and our horse? This episode is about having the courage to follow your own path, listening to your horse, and discovering the joy that exists beyond riding. After all, a horse is much more than something we ride. They are companions, teachers, and partners in our lives.
