Volunteer Task: Post-Storm Neighborhood Outreach
Help us check in with neighbors impacted by the storm and connect them with available resources.
What you’ll do:
Go door-to-door in assigned neighborhoods to check on residents.
Provide resource flyers with information about food, supplies, cleanup assistance, and other available support.
Ask residents about their immediate needs and concerns.
Identify urgent needs that may require additional follow-up.
Track and document needs so our response team can connect residents with the appropriate resources.
Share information about the Resiliency Hub and how neighbors can access support.
What to bring: Comfortable shoes, water, a phone, and a willingness to listen and help.
Important: Do not enter damaged buildings or approach areas that may be unsafe. Your safety comes first.
Volunteer Task: Street & Yard Cleanup
Help Northeast KCK neighbors recover by clearing storm debris from streets, sidewalks, and yards.
What you’ll do:
Remove branches, leaves, and other storm debris from yards, sidewalks, and accessible areas.
Help clear pathways and neighborhood streets of smaller debris.
Assist residents who may need extra support with basic outdoor cleanup.
Sort debris when appropriate and move it to designated collection areas.
Report larger, hazardous, or damaged items to the response team for follow-up.
Important: Only work in areas that have been cleared as safe. Do not approach downed power lines, damaged structures, standing water, or large/unstable debris. Wear sturdy shoes, gloves, and appropriate protective equipment.
Volunteer Task: Emergency Transportation & Home Delivery
Help storm-affected neighbors access essential food, water, supplies, and other basic necessities.
What you’ll do:
Pick up and transport food, water, cleaning supplies, and other emergency resources.
Deliver supplies directly to residents who are unable to travel to the Resiliency Hub.
Assist with urgent transportation needs related to storm recovery when possible.
Coordinate with the response team to receive delivery assignments and confirm completed deliveries.
Communicate any additional needs or concerns identified during deliveries.
What you’ll need: A reliable vehicle, a valid driver’s license, a phone, and the ability to safely transport supplies.
Important: Only accept transportation or delivery assignments that can be completed safely. Do not drive through flooded roads or areas with downed power lines, major debris, or other hazards.
Volunteer Task: Skilled Home Repairs
Help storm-affected neighbors make essential repairs and safely recover their homes.
What you’ll do:
Assess storm-related damage and identify needed repairs.
Provide skilled assistance with repairs such as roofing, siding, windows, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or other qualified work.
Help make homes safe, secure, and weather-resistant.
Coordinate with the response team to prioritize urgent repair needs.
Document completed work and report additional damage that may require professional follow-up.
Who we’re looking for: Licensed or experienced contractors, tradespeople, handymen, electricians, plumbers, roofers, carpenters, and other skilled professionals willing to donate their time or services.
Important: Volunteers should only perform work within their training, experience, and licensing requirements. Do not enter structurally unsafe buildings or perform work in areas with active electrical, gas, or other hazards.
Volunteer Task: Medical Wellness Checks
Help storm-affected residents who have been identified as needing additional medical support following the storm.
What you’ll do:
Conduct wellness checks with residents who have been referred for medical follow-up.
Assess general well-being and identify concerns that may require additional medical attention.
Help residents connect with appropriate healthcare providers or emergency services when needed.
Check on residents who may have difficulty accessing medications, medical equipment, food, water, or other essential needs.
Document and communicate concerns to the designated response team while protecting resident privacy.
Who we’re looking for: Licensed healthcare professionals and other appropriately credentialed medical providers who can safely conduct wellness checks within their professional scope of practice.
Important: This task is limited to licensed or appropriately credentialed professionals. Volunteers should not provide medical treatment, diagnosis, or medication advice outside their scope of practice. Any medical emergency should be referred to emergency medical services immediately.
